Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Ramos.
Hi Traci, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have known I wanted to work with children for as long as I can remember. I actually started doing in-home ABA therapy back in 2002 while I was working on my undergrad teaching degree. I didn’t know it at the time, but those early experiences were planting the seeds for everything that came later. After graduation, I taught special education for seven years, and during that time I found myself drawn back again and again to in-home behavior support and collaboration with families.
Eventually, I went back to school for my master’s in ABA because I wanted to be able to work 1:1 with children and families in their everyday environments—where the real learning happens. That led to the start of Bloom! At first it was just me, a few families, and a vision for quality, relationship-centered ABA.
Bloom has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. We’ve supported countless families, expanded our offerings, and built a team of compassionate therapists committed to helping clients grow in meaningful ways.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many small ABA companies, the journey hasn’t been completely smooth. We’ve navigated insurance challenges, staffing shortages, and the emotional weight that comes with supporting families with complex needs. Balancing work, motherhood, homeschooling my own children, and running a business have also stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. But every challenge has pushed Bloom into the practice it is today and strengthened our commitment to doing ABA the right way!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bloom Behavioral & Educational Solutions?
Bloom is a small, heart-forward Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) practice dedicated to creating life-changing, natural learning experiences for children, teens, and young adults. We work directly with clients and families in their homes, schools, and communities because that is where we believe meaningful learning happens. Our approach is relationship-based, trauma-informed, and completely individualized.
What sets Bloom apart is our team and our philosophy. We believe in meeting families where they are. We approach learning as something that should be fun, purposeful, and empowering. We are deeply respectful of each client’s (and their families’) values and goals. Lifelong learning is a value we hold for both our clients and our clinicians. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our skillset in ways that will benefit our team and the clients we serve.
This February, Bloom turns 12 years old, which feels both surreal and incredibly special. Over the years, we’ve strengthened our in-home and in-school ABA services and expanded our offerings to include a growing social skills program across age groups that we are super excited about. It gives our clients the chance to practice communication, friendship-building, and problem solving in joyful, natural ways that genuinely stick. It has been an honor to be a part of fostering what we hope to be life-long friendships between clients and parents.
Our focus is simple: help clients learn meaningful skills, support parents in ways that actually work, build a real community, and create positive experiences that last far beyond therapy hours. We’re proud to serve the San Antonio community and grateful to be part of so many families’ journeys!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Compassion has been the anchor of everything I do. Families come to us in moments that can feel stressful or overwhelming, and being able to show up with empathy—and pair that with consistent, evidence-based support—makes all the difference in building relationships with the families we serve. I also credit my team for the amazing things Bloom has accomplished! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by a team that truly understand Bloom’s values and collaborates to make the best possible impact for every client.
