Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Dominguez.
Hi Tammy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Getting my real estate license was one of those decisions that wasn’t exactly part of a master plan, I just knew that I was always fascinated with the industry and wanted to give it a shot. But looking back, it made complete sense for me. There was something exciting about it that I couldn’t stop thinking about, so I went for it.
My first years were spent in general home buying and selling, learning the market and building my foundation here in San Antonio. Then COVID hit, and like a lot of people, I found myself spending more time on YouTube. What I discovered was that there were thousands of people searching for information about moving to San Antonio, and not finding great answers. That was the moment everything shifted for me.
I realized relocation wasn’t just a niche for me. My knowledge of the San Antonio area and market, combined with a real patience for the process was exactly where my strengths fit. The families that I help are making one of the biggest decisions of their lives from a thousand miles away. Being the person they trust through that process is something I don’t take lightly. Honestly, I love the excitement and the different challenges that come along with every family that I help with the process.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth is definitely not the word I would use to describe it. Like most agents, my early years were unpredictable – building a sustainable, reliable business felt like a mystery on most days.
The bigger challenge came when I decided to go all in on YouTube and build a real relocation-focused brand, not just a business. I was not a natural on camera. I had no idea what people actually wanted to watch. I was guessing, posting, and figuring it out as I went. That learning curve was real, and took a lot of trial and error to figure out.
And then there’s everything that goes into building the platform I have today. From the website and content, to the systems I’ve put in place to serve relocating families before they ever pick up the phone. Over the years that I’ve been building these systems, I’ve lost motivation, gotten sidetracked, rebuilt the site from scratch more than once because I wasn’t satisfied with it. Balancing all of that with family life is its own ongoing challenge.
But I think that’s true of anything worth building. The fact that it’s hard is actually part of why most agents don’t do it. And it’s also why the ones who stick with it end up with an entirely different value to offer the clients they serve.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Most people find me through Living in SATX, which is my website and YouTube channel community that were built specifically for families relocating to San Antonio. Professionally, I’m a licensed Realtor with Realty United, LLC.
Relocation is most of what I do. I’ve built my entire business and brand around one thing: helping families moving to San Antonio from out of state navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives, often from a thousand miles away. Most of my clients find me months or even a year or two before they’re ready to move. By the time they’re serious, we already have a relationship and a detailed plan for their move.
What sets me apart is the depth of what I’ve built around that specialty: the local content, the neighborhood guides, the suburb comparisons, the YouTube videos, the systems I use to keep clients informed and organized through every stage of their move. Very few agents in San Antonio have built anything close to this level of resources around the relocation experience.
What I’m most proud of is that families trust me before they ever meet me in person, and keep in contact with me years after closing. That trust is built through content, consistency, and truly caring about them landing in the right neighborhood for their family, and not just closing the deal.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people who find me through Living in SATX probably picture someone who has been in real estate their whole career. But my early career was very different from where I am now. Before real estate I spent my early adult years in retail management and then transitioned into collision repair management. That was about as far from showing homes as you can get!
What I really brought with me from these early careers was a deep understanding of the operations side of things: managing people, being attentive to even the tiniest details, and keeping complicated processes moving smoothly. That’s actually a lot more related to what I do now than it sounds.
On a personal level, the thing that keeps me grounded and focused through all of it is my family. I have a large family and they’re definitely at the center of everything that I do. The business building, the late nights working on content; it all has a reason behind it.
