Today we’d like to introduce you to Liliana Jernigan.
Hi Liliana , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I felt drawn to become a therapist after beginning my own therapy journey in graduate school, during a season of life when I truly needed support and guidance. That experience showed me how powerful it can be to have a space where you feel seen, supported, and not rushed through change. I began as a solo practitioner, creating the kind of gentle space I once needed myself, especially for people navigating new chapters of life. Over time, that work grew into LJ Therapy Group, where I now run and lead the practice alongside a collective of therapists who share my values of warmth, presence, and thoughtful care. Today, I continue to see clients while also running the practice and supporting people through meaningful life transitions, grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a completely smooth road. Balancing motherhood while building and running a practice has been challenging, and much of the business side, including leadership, finances, and systems, was never taught in school. I am still learning and often find myself picking up new skills and tools as I go.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LJ Therapy Group ?
At LJ Therapy Group we focus on elevating mental wellness. We support people through life changes, relationships, and new chapters, offering individual and couples therapy both virtually and in person. We provide care in Spanish and English so clients can feel fully supported.
What makes us different is how we show up fully present for both clients and our team. I am proud of the culture we have created, where people feel seen, understood, and cared for. At the heart of everything we do is connection, growth, and healing in a space that feels personal and intentional.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was outgoing and loved being around people. I usually had a few very close friends who I did everything with, and our time together was full of laughter and fun. I was often the one whose laugh carried across the room, and I loved being in spaces where conversation, connection, and a little mischief could happen.
Even as a kid, I was curious about people and relationships. I didn’t always follow the crowd and liked asking questions, noticing what others were feeling, and exploring how things worked. Looking back, that mix of playfulness, curiosity, and love for people really shaped who I am today and inspired my path as a therapist.
