Community Highlights: Meet Juan Perez of Levitate Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Perez

Hi Juan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Do you remember when you were young in school and always being asked what you wanted to be when you grew up? There were always the doctors and the police officers, but I never exactly knew what it was that I wanted to spend my life doing. The only thing I knew for certain was that I wanted it to be in business.

My parents came to this country to provide my siblings and I with a better life and opportunities to do great things. I can’t fathom the extent of their journey to get here, and I still don’t know how to ever truly let them know how much all their sacrifices meant to me, but mom and dad if you are reading this, I love you so much.

I remember going to Minnesota during summer breaks all my life. Not for a vacation, but because we were migrant workers and those were the busiest months. We would always leave the weekend after school was over, and be back just in time for the first day of school. My parents always emphasized the importance of education, and how it was our ticket to success and a better future. We packed the car and made the drive from Texas to Minnesota as we did every year to get ready to work the fields. We would split the field and rows amongst each other and walk up and down hundreds of acres of farmlands to clean it up to make sure it was ready for the harvest season. From first sunlight to sundown, we were out there working under the scorching sun to make sure the job was done. It was difficult work, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything because it taught me resilience, and it made me who I am today. I remember so many times riding around with my dad and meeting with the farmers and hearing them discuss all the business specifics while I ate their ice cream and looked around their workshops. They may have thought I was just a kid tagging along, but my ears were perked as I listened and learned about all the finer details of the business and how it all worked.

As the years went by, we finally stopped going but now that was exchanged for working construction with my father on my off days and summers. Now that I was older, I got to truly help with the business side of things. Being there for the estimations, invoicing, payments etc I got to truly be at the forefront of a business that would help me learn the ways. Of course, I was still getting my hands dirty and I learned a vast amount of useful crafts and homebuilding. My father taught me the ins and outs of how to do business, as well as the importance of helping people and being a good and honest person and how that is what matters most. We got to go around helping multiple individuals and families, communities and businesses, and it felt so good. From renovations to new homes for a family to call theres, to rebuilding burned homes and apartments and helping the tenants, I got to experience the incredible joy it is to help people. The joy of knowing your efforts made a difference in their lives for the better is one that has brought me happiness.

After graduating high school, I began working in restaurant management at some large chains for a few years, but after working an immense amount of hours a week and missing a lot of my daughters first year, I decided to make a drastic career change during Covid. With the support of my amazing and supportive wife, I left my job in the darkest of times we were all going through during 2020 and the pandemic and I joined a local coding bootcamp, and decided to learn technical skills that I hoped would put me in a different career path where I would have the opportunity to be around my family more. After graduating, my first job in tech was for a marketing agency and learning the ins and outs of all that entails. From creating websites, increasing businesses digital presence, social advertisements and helping them get leads and customers that they couldn’t before, it was where I got my first taste of the professional world and how I could tie in my love of helping others with my newfound technical skills.

Now, after working for 3 marketing agencies and helping elevate the success of hundreds of different businesses, I wanted to focus solely on creating a business that would help small businesses specifically. The ones like I originally helped most of my life. The mom and pops stores, the dreamers that want to take that next step, and the ones who may not know where to start when it comes to how businesses should be run in the current age of technology where things change every day. It’s been a full circle moment for me, and I am incredibly happy to be in a position where I can help change business owners lives, because I know that I am not just helping the business owner run a successful business, but I am also helping them to alleviate the stress related to finding their next clients, and that means they come home happier and spend more time with their families and loved ones…and that is what makes it all worth it for me.

It took a lifetime, but I was finally able to find my dream job. It’s in business, helping businesses, and helping people. Helping them succeed, and helping them get their lives back so their families can get them back as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Great things don’t have easy paths. It was never a smooth road, and I’m grateful for that in a way. The struggles I mentioned working my entire life from a very young age made me mature much faster than others. While others enjoyed summer breaks or weekends, I worked to help my family. This continued when I got older into my time as a restaurant manager and it wasn’t until I had my daughter that I finally got to take a deep breath, take a step back and finally get a reset on my view of life, and what is most important. It’s family, and those who love you. It’s about being able to be a part of their lives and make memorable moments together.

During 2020, I had to work harder than ever by upleveling my education and learning coding and technology, all in the midst of the pandemic and a new career. It was an information overload, and it was certainly overwhelming, but I also got to be a huge part of my daughter’s life and get closer to my wife and make up for what I’ve missed, and they reminded me it was all worth it. I wanted nothing more than to be a significant part of my family’s life, and not just always working and missing the moments and things that matter most. That is why I do what I do. I have been around business owners my whole life and have seen the ups and downs, and the stress related to landing their next client or project. I know first hand how much simpler their life is when that is taken care of and they have the work in the pipeline, and that is why I love incorporating my skills with helping that become a reality, so that they can be less stressful and enjoy more quality time with their families.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Everything comes down to simply helping people.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
It’s helping people. Everything gets summed up to simply helping other people and knowing that my support and assistance can not only affect them and their business, but their family and those around them as well. It’s about being a good person and how many people can get helped along the way.
