Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Before opening Cryofit Alamo Heights in February 2017, I was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for almost 15 years. I fell in love with Cryotherapy after tearing my meniscus in 2016 which led to me opening CryoFit Alamo Heights. In 2018, we had a supply and demand issue regarding one of our other modalities, the full spectrum infrared sauna, as I didn’t have the space to add another sauna.
I decided to go to the East Coast and West Coast to discover other Additional infrared Sauna modalities which lead to being opening of Sweat Equity Infrared Saunas in January of 2020, six weeks before the pandemic hit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ha! No. We launched Sweat Equity six weeks before the pandemic hit and then had to close for three months. Because of the timing of opening Sweat equity, we barely got any PPP money because we didn’t have a previous year to show income for the business.
And even though we re-opened in late June, it wasn’t until 2021 that we started to get a somewhat steady clientele. So yes, it’s been quite a journey to this point

Sweat Equity Infrared Saunas is like a wellness amusement park. We offer an array of different full spectrum infrared modalities, including an infrared “yoga” room, cabins, and cocoon pod. We also offer whole body cryotherapy, IV vitamin/amino acid drips and injectables, NAD+, compression therapy, and a Somadome meditation pod. We are the only ones in Texas to have a Somadome!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The current perspective of “self-care “ is drastically changing at this moment in time. It is more about a whole body and mind approach, focusing more internally than externally for longevity. This is essentially what biohacking is and sweat equity is like biohacking central in South Texas. I believe bio-hacking is going to be the wave of the future.
