Community Highlights: Meet Dylan Lopez Diaz of Hi-Tone Jewelry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Lopez Diaz.

Hi Dylan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi-Tone Jewelry began in 2021, right in the middle of COVID, with my family and me chasing a shared dream. I’ve been making jewelry for 13 years, starting at just 14 when I began learning the craft from my dad, Ariel, who’s been in the jewelry business for over 40 years. A few years later, my brother Adrian joined in, and he’s been creating jewelry for about three years now, bringing his own creativity and energy to what has truly become a family legacy.

We started small, working long hours out of a workshop in our home, learning, experimenting, and perfecting our craft. Soon after, we began selling our pieces at local vending events, connecting directly with customers who appreciated the heart and detail behind each design. In October 2021, we took the leap and opened our first storefront.

Since then, Hi-Tone Jewelry has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. Every step has been a labor of love, blending tradition, craftsmanship, and family. Our goal has always been simple: to create timeless pieces that carry both beauty and meaning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business in the middle of COVID came with a lot of uncertainty. There were moments when we didn’t know if things would work out, from delays in supplies to figuring out how to reach customers when so much of the world was shut down.

In the beginning, we were working out of our home, doing everything ourselves while trying to build a name from the ground up. Balancing the creative side with the business side was a challenge, especially as we transitioned from small vending events to opening a full storefront. On top of that, the constantly rising price of gold has made things even more difficult, forcing us to adapt our pricing, sourcing, and designs without sacrificing quality.

But every challenge pushed us to get better. We learned how to adapt, stay consistent, and trust the process. Looking back, those early struggles really shaped who we are today and made the growth of Hi-Tone Jewelry even more meaningful.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hi-Tone Jewelry. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hi-Tone Jewelry is a family-owned business that combines years of experience with a passion for craftsmanship. We specialize in custom, high-quality jewelry, creating pieces that are not only beautiful but meaningful. From engagement rings to personalized designs, every piece is made with attention to detail and a dedication to quality that reflects our family’s decades-long tradition in jewelry making.

In addition to custom designs, we offer a full range of services, including jewelry repairs, engravings, watch battery replacements, and other maintenance to keep treasured pieces looking their best. What sets us apart is our hands-on approach and personal connection with our customers. We don’t just sell jewelry, we help people tell their stories through the pieces they wear. Our customers know they’re getting something unique, made with care and skill, not mass-produced.

We’re most proud of being able to take our family legacy and turn it into a thriving business that grows with each piece we create. For us, it’s about more than just jewelry; it’s about craftsmanship, trust, and building lasting relationships with everyone who walks through our doors.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Our success wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our family and close friends. My dad, Ariel, has been a lifelong mentor, teaching me the craft of jewelry making and inspiring me with his 40 years of experience. My mom has always been our biggest cheerleader, keeping us motivated and grounded through every challenge. My brother Adrian has been an essential partner in the business, bringing his creativity, dedication, and energy to everything we do.

I’m also grateful for my long-time girlfriend, Janie, who has been there from the very beginning, offering support, encouragement, and perspective when we needed it most. Our friends have been invaluable as well, helping spread the word about our business and celebrating every milestone with us.

Hi-Tone Jewelry is truly a family effort, and the guidance, encouragement, and belief from everyone around us have played a huge role in our growth and success.
