Community Highlights: Meet Courtney Jones of North Texas Doulas LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Jones.

Hi Courtney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
North Texas Doulas LLC was founded in 2024 by Courtney Jones, who has been a dedicated doula since 2021.

I was inspired by my inherent passion for providing birth support to women during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. So many families found themselves separated from support during birth and labor during this time, including myself that I had to find a way to ensure women always had support and advocacy if they desired. During this time, I was inadvertently doing Doula work without knowing what a Doula is. Providing hip squeezes, advocacy, education, and help inside the home postpartum. I really dove in in 2024 when I was pregnant with my third child, to making this a fulltime business. Then come 2025 I have expanded across the State of Texas to owning an agency that has Doulas in many cities and counties providing support.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say it has not been a smooth road at all. It has been more of a mountain bike hitting stones and being kicked back 20 feet. Right when my business really kicked off- I had a baby. When I had my son I was one of the very rare people to have a placental abruption during my labor and really had to take time off to process this and bond with my baby. Then come 2025 I was apart of a Doula Collective that just was not as business oriented as I was. I was full steam ahead with websites, network marketing, investing time and money into getting my name out there in the communities we serve, but the collective was not so I had to leave that. Then I rebranded to North Texas Doulas and have been hard on the uphill climb since then. A lot of people in the small community I reside in do not know what a Doula is and the local hospital is not as welcoming to us as say the bigger hospitals in DFW. Just getting my foot in the door with hospitals, the community, midwives, etc is a long term thing that is built on reputation and trust.

As you know, we’re big fans of North Texas Doulas LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in a tumultuous home. Abandoned by my parents who both were alcoholics, and raised by my grandparents who arguably did the best they could. I just remember take refuge in reading books as a child to escape the reality of what was my childhood. Everyone who knows me knows I am very straightforward cut and dry person- So, I liked reading books.
