Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Ford
Hi Bradley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my company with my last $350 and my White BMW. I didn’t have a truck so I had to pack the cheapest mower I could buy, the cheapest weed eater I could find and 1 electric blower. I started putting out flyers and promoting on social media. I was only 25 years old with my daughter on the way to be born and I had to do something. I started off just cutting grass until a client asked if I could do other things like mulch and plants. I google pricing on various landscape jobs and realized I could make more money doing these jobs. I like to say I graduated from YouTube university because much of what I learned to do I just watched videos and applied the methods I learned to whatever job was at task. I started getting booked to the point I needed to hire some help. Now 13 years later we have 13 full time employees, 4 trucks, 9 trailers and all the equipment to handle any job that comes our way. I truly built my business from scratch from the trunk of my car to a million dollar business!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I faced so many obstacles along the journey to building my company. When I started I had to get so many loans to float payroll and pay for equipment that needed repairs. Bills don’t stop and as the company grew so did my overhead. The hardest part about having your own business I would say is all the responsibilities you incur as you grow. I have lost money and made money never knowing what the next day will bring. An employee might call in, the trailer may blow a tire, a window may get broken, to something more serious like a car wreck. I have been through every scenario but never gave up and now it seems like my company is on cruise control. I have a great staff of employees and my phone rings everyday with job opportunities and new clients. I just had to be a problem solver and believe things will get better.
We’ve been impressed with Ford landscape and lawn care LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service landscaping and lawn care company. We offer lawn maintenance services all the way to complete overhaul transformations. We cut grass commercial and residential, trim hedges, trim trees, xeriscape, brick and mortar flower beds is one of our specialties, plant install, various edging installs, artificial turf installs, sod install, fertilization and irrigation installs. You name it landscape wise and we do it. What I’m most proud of is the care that we put into our work. We treat every clients yard like it’s our own. We are a family business even though my employees are not family we treat each other as such. We won best lawn care companies of San Antonio in 2022 and that was a big deal for us. When you hire us you hire a company that cares about the product we produce because our name and reputation is behind every job. What sets us apart from every other company is the characteristics of the people working on your property. You will encounter respectful employees that love what they do every-time you hire us. We don’t just do what we are hired to do we always will recommend other things your landscaping needs to improve your properties curb appeal.
What are your plans for the future?
Every year we plan to grow larger and larger. We set goals for next year every year. Coming into 2025 I would like to add another landscape crew of 4 guys to take on more jobs. We just got our own shop which was the goal for 2023. This is a big deal for us because along our journey we only had storage units and land to store all our equipment, now we have all our equipment under 1 roof safe and secure. We finally have a restroom. electricity, and running water which is a game changer for us. You can feel the morale change once we made this step up.
