Community Highlights: Meet Alyssa Gallion of Lyssie Lou’s Cookie Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Gallion

Hi Alyssa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was in high school, my mom and I started baking and selling our cherished family’s recipe for soft hand frosted sugar cookies.

To my surprise, my classmates, friends, and teachers loved them! Since then, folks have been asking for the recipe or for me to create an official business where they can purchase them.

In 2015, my mother passed away from a five-year battle with breast cancer. In an effort to honor her, I started Lyssie Lou’s Cookie Co, (a nickname she gave to me) and used a card she wrote to me as the inspiration for our logo, featuring her handwriting.

Growing up, my mom showed me the magic of making someone’s day with a compliment, a small gift, or talking about a memory that we shared. Through Lyssie Lou’s Cookie’s I aim to bake this heartfelt message into the lives of our customers one cookie at a time.

Our mission strives to create a community where people bring cookies to their neighbors, where we sit and chat about our day, and ultimately continue to create the memories that I once experienced as a child. Our frosted sugar cookies are delicious, but the ingredients of giving and sharing with love are much bigger.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and there have definitely been struggles along the way. Starting Lyssie Lou’s Cookie Co. was born from both joy and heartache. After my mom passed away in 2015, I was driven by the desire to honor her memory and share the love we had for baking together. But turning that passion into a business came with challenges.

In the beginning, I faced the emotional weight of my loss while trying to channel that grief into something positive. There were moments of doubt—wondering if I could truly capture the spirit of what my mom and I created. I had to learn about running a business from scratch, navigating the complexities of recipes, marketing, and building a community.

There were also logistical hurdles, from sourcing quality ingredients to ensuring I met health regulations. And as a young entrepreneur, balancing school, work, and personal life added another layer of complexity. Each step felt like an uphill battle, but the support from friends, classmates, and my community kept me motivated.

Ultimately, those struggles have shaped the heart of Lyssie Lou’s Cookie Co. Each challenge has reinforced my mission to spread kindness and create connections, just like my mom taught me. Every cookie is a reminder of her love and the memories we shared, and I’m committed to building that sense of community, one sweet treat at a time.
