Today we’d like to introduce you to William Bouldin.
Hi William, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am the proud owner of a bakery called The Cookie Jar Bar, the only bakery in San Antonio to be reposted by Keith Lee, one of the biggest food critics on TikTok.
We have been featured on KSAT twice and were even called “the cookie of the future.” After being falsely accused of a crime, and that became one of my proudest moments. It reminded me that no matter what people may say about you, never let someone else be the author of your story.
Along the way, we’ve had the opportunity to serve cookies to the Spurs, including Keldon Johnson; boxing champion Andre Berto, who famously faced Floyd Mayweather Jr.; and the list goes on.
We’re also a top seller in Austin, Texas, at Barrett’s Coffee.
What started me on this journey was the connection I had to chocolate chip cookies growing up, because of my grandma, Vivian Bouldin. She was more of a mother to me than a grandmother. Each bite of her cookies felt like a warm embrace. No matter what was taking place in my life, they were a literal sweet escape.
I didn’t have a lot of guidance growing up, which resulted in a lot of trial and error. At some point, I decided I didn’t want to hurt or be hurt anymore, and that decision brought me back to what made me smile.
I made the choice to heal out loud, and so many others came with me on this journey.
I get called “The Cookie Guy” every time I’m out making deliveries, and it has completely reshaped how I see the world and my place in it.
I’d have to say this is the sweetest job ever and the best part about it all is that the cookie is just that good.
No one can tell it’s vegan.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a black owner in Texas unfortunately is riddled with mistreatment. We sellout so fast that we have had coffee shop employees in Austin try to hide our inventory an even going as far to place signs on boxes that say (DO NOT SALE!!!) It’s been a tough road, but even tougher for the racist who have to keep watching us win!

How do you think about luck?
God has been the only deciding factor on this journey. As long as I’m in his grace, luck is simply a flip of a coin, when you’re favored by the one choosing how it lands.. life seems to be more beautiful that way
