Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Noriega.
Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was around 15 years old, I started losing pigment on my skin. I went to dermatologist after dermatologist and no one could diagnose me with what we now know as vitiligo. My skin became very sensitive over the years and after trying every “natural” product off the shelves I decided to make my own body care products at home. I did research and practiced infusing herbs to make oils for salves, lip balms and body scrubs. A couple of years ago, I started handing out these products to my family, friends and co-workers to get their feedback. After receiving positive responses I decided to give pop up markets a try. This July will be one year since Norapothecary has made a public presence. Our product list has expanded to loose leaf tea blends, bath salts and face masks.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a side gig or starting a small business will always have it’s fair share of bumps in the road. My biggest struggle has been learning to balance life between my full time job, home life and dedicating time to get creative with products. I often remind myself that passion is what has brought me to this point.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create body care products from organic herbs. Norapothecary is a modern take on herbalism. I love explaining to people that the healing herbs you can consume in tea are the same herbs that can also heal your skin. Our products have simple and minimal ingredients. I stay away from dyes, additives and preservatives to remain safe for all skin types. This includes people with Eczema and Psoriasis.
Any big plans?
A future plan is to be able to ship our products out of state. We are working through this to ensure we keep the integrity of our products since we do not use preservatives and organic oils can be very delicate in high temperatures.
