Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocio Storrs.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career began over 15 years ago when I wanted to learn how to do my own hair and my family’s because we never had the opportunity to go to a professional salon to have our hair done when we were growing up. It was back in Austin where I got my Cosmetology License where I met colleagues and they gave me the opportunity to work with them and got my Educator license and I worked for the first time at Nuvani Institute teaching cosmetology and esthetics class for 2 years, it was in 2006 when I moved to San Antonio and they called me from Vogue Beauty College to teach the Cosmetology program in Spanish where I had the opportunity that strengthened my ability to teach and help students achieve their goals, graduate and obtain their license in Cosmetology. In 2019 it was when I wanted to expand my skills and I went to barber college to obtain my Barber license and embarked in this industry, I started working in a high in and exclusive barber club here in San Antonio where I reinforced my ability to train professionals in the industry and allowed myself to grow in my career I was the Barber Educator and manager, until I started building my own business and take care of my clients and personalize their visit in every grooming service I provided. I learned Through the years clients and customer service are the heart beat of every business every person who sits in a my chair has a history and is not just about looks and hair cut and style is about making them feel better, confident and refined and this is what I want them to experience every time they come to my Salon (The Refinery)

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A while ago I thought it was an obstacle not been fluent in English as my second language to own my business, I have to get over the fear and star focus on growth
