Today we’d like to introduce you to Noela Mogga.
Hi Noela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We were introduced to RV as a way to take vacations and travel by a friend of my husband in early 2018. We took a trip to a local Texas RV park and really enjoyed it. In August of 2018, we bought our first RV, a 2016 Mercedes Benz Sprinter by Forrest River. While not using our rig, we would list it for rent and other families got to enjoy the benefits of the RV while we received money to help pay its costs. The money we were getting from the rentals was good. After testing the model of renting our 1 RV out for the rest of the summer and fall of 2018, we decided to enter the RV rental business. We purchased 3 additional RVs the following year in 2019.
We wanted to share our love of RV trips and the outdoors with other families. Many in my community did not know about RV travel as an alternate way to take family vacations and see the great American outdoors. Renting out our RVs gave American families the chance to spend time outside, make memories and strengthen family bonds. Then the pandemic of 2020 happened. As air travel came to a standstill, families sought RV travel as an alternate way to vacation in a safe manner. Our business boomed in the summer of 2020.
My husband and I are entrepreneurs at heart. We saw an opportunity to expand our business. We built our own custom-designed RV rental platform called mangorv.com to enable other families; those who may feel traditionally locked out of such business opportunities, to enter the RV rental business and have a side income to fuel their family’s needs.
Today, our company MangoRV is proud to call itself the first peer-to-peer RV Rental platform born in the Alamo City. Our motto is safer, faster, and trusted.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our road has been far from easy. Securing a loan for our first RV was the first hurdle we had to overcome. We wanted to do it right, to secure the first RV under our business Mango Grove RV Rental LLC. As a new company with no prior financials or business history, it takes a bank a lot of paperwork and scrutiny to approve your first loan. After getting the first loan our other three loans for the other vehicles were much easier to secure.
RVs are a new sort of terrain to cover. My husband and I are in the medical profession. I am an anesthesiologist and he is a pharmacist. So there was a lot we had to learn regarding the maintenance of RVs. Now I can state that Mr. Moses Mogga is an RV expert. We do our best to ensure our RVs are in good road conditions prior to leasing them out.
Then there is the aspect of building a tech product. When we decided to build our own RV rental platform, we were venturing into the realm of tech startups. A different learning curve, a different set of problems to deal with. Fortunately, I have a tenacious attitude and I am a voracious reader. There is no better way to learn than to dive headfirst into the problems and find solutions along the way. If you told us we would be here in this space three years ago when we first started; we would not have believed it. We are proud of our achievements, each one building on the other. And we celebrate each small milestone.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a physician specializing in anesthesiology. I started my residency in Anesthesiology in 2006 at UTHSCSA: University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. I stayed on to practice in the great city of San Antonio in multiple private facilities since 2010. I have the privilege of guiding patients safely through surgery, which can be a time of uncertainty and worry for some. I find my work very rewarding from explaining their disease process, expectations with anesthesia, and providing the anesthetic. I am proud of the teamwork with other health care personnel that I encounter everyday; nurses, technicians, CNA’s, orderlies, and other physicians. The respect we have for each other makes it a very enjoyable profession.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best part of San Antonio has to be the people. It is filled with good people who go out of their way to be good neighbors and help each other out. I find the city welcoming of outsiders. I moved to San Antonio from New Jersey in 2006 and now I call it home.
Boasting year-round warm weather, it is a beautiful safe place to raise a family. There are plenty of state parks to take your RV on a weekend camping trip. The riverwalk is a surprising perk of life in San Antonio. A place for couples to hang out, to eat and drink and enjoy music. I always take my guests on a guided boat ride at the riverwalk to introduce them to San Antonio.
What I like least about San Antonio is the absence of mass transit such as train lines to take you to the city center from the peripheries.
