Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Gonzales.
Natasha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began interviewing people in the community a little over two years ago. It began as a hobby and quickly turned into a full-fledged passion for me. I have done over 280 interviews and I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people in our city. I’ve always loved San Antonio but I didn’t fully take it in until I was in this world.
About a year ago, I became a division of La Prensa Texas newspaper. As the new Director of Digital Operations for La Prensa, I am proud to be a part of keeping this beautiful history alive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing and learning can be uncomfortable but so worth it! It has not been a smooth road but it has been a journey of ups, downs, and in between. I’ve struggled with juggling my career as a doctoral student, nurse, wife, mother, and business owner.
Many times I’ve put my love for digital journalism at the forefront and I have grappled with the guilt of putting other areas of my life on the back burner but I know it will all be worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a local entrepreneur. Together my husband and I own and run 3 businesses. We have 3 young children we’re raising. I’m an RN and I’m in school full time working on my Doctorate degree specializing in psychiatric mental health. I am also a full-time content creator, digital journalist, and now Director of our digital team.
I am also a part-time bartender. I am also active in my school’s community serving as student chair on several boards and I work as a TA teaching undergrad students. I’m proud of everything I do but I’m most proud of being a mother to my children. I hope they see that everything I’ve done and continue to do it for them.
What matters most to you?
My peace matters most. I work very hard to keep peace and good energy in my life. My family matters more than anything to me because everything I do is for them as much as it is for me.
