Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Rouche.
Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
If I had to trace “my story” it began when I was a teenager. I remember longing for MORE. I’ve always been a big dreamer and a cheerleader for women. I was the girl giving the instructions and casting the vision. I rallied the troops while chanting “GIRL YOU GOT THIS!” I am an advocate for ALL things girl. My story began in Savannah, Georgia.
I’m the eldest daughter so that pretty much qualifies me to be a BOSS. My life pivoted at the age of 16. I became a statistic–a teen mother. Not the kind on MTV who get a check and national attention. I was as pregnant as I was full of purpose. I was determined to defy odds. I just had to do it with my baby in tow. To make a beautiful long story short– the longings for MORE became louder.
I knew that I was called to make a difference. Every vision of myself was BIG. In my heart, I knew that it was my life’s work to help as many women connect with the BIG vision on the inside of her regardless of any obstacle she faces.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge has been “failure to launch” born out of fear. I listened to the what-ifs in my head and talked myself out of starting. Every great work must have a STARTING POINT. Too many dreams die in the minds of people who sit and ponder what-ifs. Just like Glenda, the Good Witch told Dorothy, “you’ve had it all along.”
Dorothy just had to BELIEVE. We were born with everything we need. Many times we don’t realize it because it’s in incubation. It’s there–it just hasn’t manifested. I learned from my hesitation. I am no longer afraid–In the words of Rihanna; “bus it why you got it on safety”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a bit of a multi-disciplinarian. I’m the founder of She is International. A platform for women to connect, build and elevate. I’m a speaker and editor in chief of She Is Magazine. I’m a transformation coach and also a Realtor.
Being a Realtor helps me connect people to one of their biggest dreams, homeownership. I curate events for women to educate and elevate.
How do you define success?
I believe success is doing what you were uniquely created to do and being compensated for it. If you do it well you should be paid well. Success is being proud of who you are when no one is watching. Success is knowing that you’ve added value to another person’s life.
