Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Urzua.
Hi Matt, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a artist,history buff with expertise in 1940’s . After multiple ventures ,failed business and relationships that didn’t work out I found my passion with something I can serve my community,other artist and film producers by providing them with original photos ,letters and relics from the greatest generation the World War two generation. Each day I learn something new and share my work with others on tik tok under the user name 40skindofguy there I add music to the photo collages making learning fun. Although I supply many with pieces of history and inspire others in book writing, film Industry my ultimate goal is to make a film or series depicting life in 1940s with multiple characters based of real life events such as internment camp struggles the Japanese Americans faced,and all African American units and woman who picked up the pieces when the country was at war .
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest set back were life long injury and disability I recieved while doing humanitarian work in the middle east . The job required every ounce of endurance, strength mental and physical.Upon returning home I realized where some task to others are simple I find many hard to do but I still give it my best .I was in a land mine/ ied removal team and many blast went off directly in front my vehicle on top lugging 120 lbs of gear my body is broken but winning hearts and minds is for ever ingrained . In the process of injuring my self it let others In far away places know there is still some one trying to make a difference . But upon returning home a new battle for my self began the fight for my basic rights, dignity and respect were not equally given.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a ebay store called menofwaruncensored it has given me ability to provide others with genuine photos ,letters and documents. The most rewarding part is helping others find paper letters, photos items from there family that served in World War two. When I’m not working on the store I provide photos tags on graves of 1940s and world war two personal it led me to bieng reached out by a relative of a soldier it was heart warming moment that motivated me to keep going and that this is a rewarding field .
What are your plans for the future?
My projects are never ending ,the future holds a book called world war two unkowns these are photos of persons that served in world war two there unkown now but it’s for the hopeful reader to identify there family,friends it is a larger than life project . The book sales will fund my Film,series project jump starting a new venture all provided to me from the past that honors them in future
