Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Deleon.
Hi Krystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Krystal DeLeon, and my brow journey started long before I ever knew it would become a career. Growing up with a single father, I learned how to do my own brows in middle school. As I became more confident, my friends began asking me to shape and tweeze theirs as well. What started as a hobby followed me through high school, college, and into early adulthood.
After having my daughter, I spent a year as a stay-at-home mom. In 2018, I discovered the esthetics industry and immediately felt drawn to it. I submitted my information through the Ogle School website and received a call to tour the school just ten minutes later. I attended the tour and enrolled the very same day.
During my time at Ogle, we were asked to write down our goals after graduation. I wrote that I wanted to open my own suite at Salons by JC and become known as one of the best brow artists in San Antonio. Looking back, it’s incredible to see that those goals became a reality.
As my career grew, so did my passion for education. In 2022, I began training other beauty professionals, which became a major turning point for me. I realized that I genuinely loved sharing my knowledge, helping others build confidence in their skills, and creating opportunities for growth within our industry.
Today, I am four years into education and have recently opened my own storefront salon, Klarite Kollective. Klarite Kollective was built on the belief that beauty should never be one-size-fits-all. Our approach centers around customization, education, and creating a welcoming space where clients feel comfortable pursuing the look that makes them feel most confident. Whether someone prefers a full, fluffy brow, a sleek and structured shape, or something completely unique to their style, our goal is to help them achieve it without judgment.
In addition to providing brow and lash services, Klarite Kollective serves as a space for continued learning and professional development. Through hands-on trainings and mentorship, we help beauty professionals refine their skills, grow their businesses, and build careers they are proud of. What began as a young girl learning to do her own brows has evolved into a career centered around artistry, education, and building a community where both clients and artists can thrive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced my share of challenges, setbacks, and growing pains along the way.
One of the biggest challenges was building a business while raising my daughter. Learning how to balance motherhood, education, and entrepreneurship often meant working long hours, making sacrifices, and figuring things out as I went. There wasn’t a roadmap—I had to learn through experience.
Another challenge was overcoming self-doubt. When you’re building something from the ground up, there are constantly new levels that require you to step outside of your comfort zone. Whether it was opening my first suite, becoming an educator, rebranding, or signing the lease for my storefront, each milestone came with moments where I questioned whether I was ready. I’ve learned that growth often happens before you feel fully prepared.
The beauty industry is also constantly evolving, which means staying committed to continued education and innovation. I’ve invested heavily into refining my craft, developing training programs, and creating experiences that reflect my standards and values.
Looking back, every challenge helped shape the business I have today. The difficult moments taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to my vision. If anything, the struggles made the journey more meaningful because they showed me what I was capable of overcoming.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a brow artist, educator, and the founder of Klarite Kollective in San Antonio, Texas. My specialty is brow lamination, custom brow shaping, tinting, and lash lifts. While I offer a variety of services, my true passion lies in creating customized results that are tailored to each individual client rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Over the years, I’ve become known for my detailed mapping process and my commitment to customization. Every face is different, and every client has their own preferences, so I take the time to create brows that complement their features while still aligning with how they want to look and feel. Whether a client prefers a bold, fluffy brow, a sleek and structured shape, or something more minimal, my goal is to help bring their vision to life.
In addition to working behind the chair, I am also an educator. Teaching has become one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Through my training programs, I help beauty professionals strengthen their skills, build confidence, and develop their own approach to artistry. Watching students grow and succeed within the industry is something I am incredibly proud of.
What sets me apart is my belief that there is no single definition of the “perfect” brow. The beauty industry often promotes trends or standards that don’t fit everyone, but I believe beauty is personal. My role is not to create the same brow on every client—it’s to listen, educate, and customize. That philosophy has become the foundation of both my services and my education programs.
What I am most proud of is building Klarite Kollective into more than just a salon. It has become a space where clients feel comfortable expressing their individuality and where beauty professionals can continue learning and growing. Creating a business centered around community, education, and inclusivity is something I am incredibly grateful for and proud of every day.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are so many people who deserve credit for helping me get to where I am today. While entrepreneurship can feel lonely at times, no one builds something meaningful entirely on their own.
First and foremost, my daughter has been my biggest motivation. Becoming a mother completely changed the trajectory of my life and pushed me to build something greater than myself. Many of the decisions I’ve made throughout my career have been driven by the desire to create opportunities, stability, and a future she can be proud of.
My clients also deserve an incredible amount of credit. Many of them have been with me for years and have trusted me through every stage of my journey—from my suite days to education and now into my storefront. Their loyalty, referrals, and belief in my work have played a huge role in the growth of my business. I truly would not be where I am today without them.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my students. Teaching has challenged me to grow not only as an artist but as a leader. Their trust in me as an educator is something I never take for granted, and watching them succeed continues to inspire me to keep raising the standard for myself and my programs.
I have also been fortunate to have supportive friends, family members and industry peers who have encouraged me during both the exciting moments and the difficult ones. Building a business comes with plenty of uncertainty, and having people who believe in your vision before anyone else can see it makes all the difference.
Most importantly, I am grateful for every person who has supported Klarite Kollective and what it stands for. The business may have started with me, but it has grown into a community. Every client, student, supporter, and team member has helped shape it into what it is today, and for that I am incredibly thankful.
