Today we’d like to introduce you to Keesha Odom.
Keesha , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am the developer of Hye Springs Ranch, a 120-unit luxury residential community located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country wine corridor between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Before entering real estate development, I built and operated a successful freight brokerage company that grew to more than $35 million in annual revenue before being sold to Berkshire Hathaway in 2018. After the sale, I pursued my passion for real estate and hospitality by creating Hye Springs Ranch—a resort-style, lock-and-leave community designed to offer owners a unique Hill Country lifestyle with luxury homes, short-term rental opportunities, and high-end amenities. Over the past several years, I have overseen every aspect of the project, including land acquisition, planning, design, engineering, infrastructure development, construction, marketing, and sales. Today, Hye Springs Ranch represents the culmination of years of vision, hard work, and dedication to creating a distinctive residential destination in one of the most desirable regions of Texas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Developing Hye Springs Ranch has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, but it has also been one of the most challenging. Real estate development is complex under the best of circumstances, and this project required coordinating land acquisition, engineering, permitting, infrastructure construction, financing, marketing, and sales—all while navigating a constantly changing environment.
Like many large-scale developments, we faced delays related to utilities, construction schedules, and market conditions. There were times when we had to make difficult decisions, solve unexpected problems, and push through obstacles that weren’t part of the original plan. What I learned is that success in development isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about how you respond to them.
My background as an entrepreneur taught me to stay focused on solutions, adapt when circumstances change, and keep moving forward. Every challenge ultimately made the project stronger and made me a better developer. Looking back, I wouldn’t say it was a smooth road, but I would say the lessons learned along the way have been invaluable, and they have helped shape Hye Springs Ranch into the community it is today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My background is in interior design, and I’ve always been passionate about creating spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful. What I enjoy most is finding ways to blend architecture, interior design, and the natural environment to create a cohesive experience. While I’ve been involved in all aspects of the development process, the design side has always been where my passion truly lies.
One of the things I am most proud of at Hye Springs Ranch is the collaboration with our architect to create homes that reflect the character of the Texas Hill Country while honoring the area’s rich German heritage. We wanted the homes to feel authentic to the region while also offering a fresh, modern perspective. That vision led us to incorporate natural materials, expansive windows that bring the outdoors in, and architectural elements like corten steel that create a contemporary aesthetic while still feeling grounded in the landscape.
What sets me apart is that I approach development through the lens of design first. I don’t just look at a floor plan or a building—I think about how people will experience the space, how it connects to the surrounding environment, and how it will feel years from now. Every decision, from the placement of windows to the selection of the furniture, was made with the goal of creating a timeless community that feels uniquely connected to the Hill Country. Seeing that vision come to life is something I’m incredibly proud of.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout my career is that the most meaningful projects take time, perseverance, and a willingness to stay committed to a vision, even when the path isn’t always clear. Hye Springs Ranch has been a labor of love, and I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has contributed to bringing it to life.
My hope is that Hye Springs Ranch becomes more than just a place to own a home. I want it to be a place where people can slow down, connect with family and friends, enjoy the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, and create lasting memories. In a world that seems to move faster every day, there is something special about creating spaces that encourage people to relax, gather, and appreciate their surroundings.
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to take away, it’s that following your passion is always worth the effort. Some of the most rewarding opportunities come from taking risks, embracing challenges, and believing in a vision long before others can see it. I’m excited for the future of Hye Springs Ranch and grateful to be part of its story.
