Check Out Jenna Brooke Clark’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Brooke Clark.

Hi Jenna Brooke, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a gifted camera and a desire to say yes to the things that were exciting me. I think I always knew I wanted to be an artist, but so much of what I heard and felt comfortable with growing up was science-based. Being an artist was a stretch because it meant you were responsible for creating your own world instead of following in someone else’s foot steps.

When I was offered to buy a mentors old camera, I went for it because it felt exciting. He told me to take 100 photos a day and I would learn everything about light, my camera settings and composition. Not his quote, but something he lived by. I ended up really loving taking photos of people and decided to try my skills in the wedding industry.

It has been such a wild ride of learning and growth through my four years in the industry. I’ve met so many amazing vendors and people who have their hands in this industry. It’s been such a joy finding my people who I can collaborate with. I’ve found models, planners, stylists, other photographers, etc. It’s been so fun growing this little life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was relatively smooth. I think the biggest challenge for me was not giving up when things got hard. When the inquiries stopped flowing in, when I felt like I had so much to edit and not enough time, those moments always stretched me. Those moments made me realize how important it was to bet on myself, invest in tools and mentorship, and really create a community so I didn’t feel so alone.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer and a retreat host.

Before becoming a photographer full time, I owned a yoga studio in San Marcos called Easy Tiger. Not to be confused with the coffee bread shop in Austin. This business really entered me into the world of entrepreneurship and also the world of spirituality. I learned so much about my body, my mental state, my nervous system during this time and all of these things helped me become an artist. The full trust you have to have to bet on yourself is so necessary. I don’t think I would be living this life I have without those tools I learned in my 20’s.

So now I get to capture gorgeous weddings, help brands build imagery to invite people into their world, and host retreats for other creatives and wanna-be creatives. Our next retreat is in Sayulita, MX in November so if you are needing some Yoga, Surf, Creative Community and Beach Hangs… you should definitely reach out.

What makes you happy?
Creating art. Hiking mountains. Traveling across the globe. Hosting retreats for creative people. It all gives me such a perspective shift and so much joy. Building a life that is balanced is so important when you are an artist, constantly putting out work, networking, and building your network. As much as I love creating art and putting my ideas out into the world, I also love being in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the wind as my companion. It’s a balance.

I also love baking, trying my hand at crocheting, hosting dinner parties for my friends, writing stories and swimming.
