Check Out Jason X. Hudson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason X. Hudson

Hi Jason X., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Rock Island, IL, and moved to Chicago, IL 19. A natural creative, I’ve been involved in art and design since I was 8 years old drawing church posters for my grandmama. I have always had an artistic eye, but also an analytical mindset from my years of mechanical drafting classes in high school. This combination of art, structure, and functionality is the foundation of the style, perspective, and composition seen in my work today.
I graduated from the International Academy of Design & Technology Chicago in 2003, with a degree in Advertising & Design. Before graduation, I was working full-time as graphic designer at a trade show publication with national distribution. Since then, I’ve built over 20 years of professional graphic design experience in both corporate and freelance environments. I have worked with various advertising agencies, publications, printing companies, non-profit organizations, and companies all over the country. In 2017 I moved to San Antonio, TX, and wanted to try something in a little different where I had more creative freedom. This is when Jasonxphotography was born. Starting with street photography, I moved more into fashion editorial photography based on my roots in publication and advertising design. This is where I really shined, with my mix of high fashion and unique street photography angles, I have started to make a name for himself in the Texas fashion industry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I won’t say the road has been hard, but it has been a process. I love photography! I could shoot every day, all day because it gives me the opportunity to show others the world through my eyes. But I have a day where I work a 12-hour shift, 6 days a week. So, I don’t have a lot of time to do what I love. But I shoot as much as I can and try to make the most of every moment. I really don’t look at life in terms of hard or struggle… to me everything is a process, that we work through, and that process helps us develop into a better version of ourselves. We need the process to elevate to the next level.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m Artist, but photography is the brush I’m using to paint pictures right now. Expressing my perspective is a what I actually do. I like high fashion, and edgy looks… I like contrast, wither its colors, patterns, textures, environment, etc. I like stuff that’s catches attention or that can be overlooked until you see it from the angle. I specialize in fashion editorial photography, and I’m know for my angles…most people love my angles…lol but my angles are really just a style I use create an interesting overall composition. The model is just one of piece of the whole puzzle, the makes the complete picture. The other elements in the picture draw the viewers eyes to the model, wither its leading lines, patterns, or even negative space. I like for the picture to tell a story without saying a word but also allow the viewer to make up their own story. I’m an Aries, so I like the sense of energy and movement… I like my pictures to be dynamic! That’s what I’m known for, and what sets me apart from others. What I think I’m most proud of is my ability to adapt and adjust to just about any situation at the drop of a hat… I feel I can truly make something out of nothing…lol A friend I worked with a lot once told me, that I don’t necessarily find great locations, I make any location a great location, because of my unique perspective, and creative problem solving.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I honestly don’t think about it much. I just do what I love to do, and try to do something interesting each time.
