Check Out Jason & Alejandra Bryant’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason & Alejandra Bryant.

Jason & Alejandra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Though I, Jason, have always been drawn to beautiful photographs, my own journey started with a very defining moment when I was 9. My family had fallen on hard times and as a result, had become homeless.

We moved all of our belongings into a storage unit. However, when we could no longer afford to make payments on the unit, we lost everything inside in a storage auction. The most notable loss was the years of family photographs we had placed there for safekeeping. We were left with only a suitcase full of clothes, memories, and our love for one another. We were poor on paper, but with the help of my parents, we were rich in character. They made sure I never forgot where I came from and planted a seed of determination. I so badly wish that I could recover what was lost.

For the last several years, this feeling has evolved into an obsession that I know will never go away. After graduating college and gradually saving, I bought my first DSLR camera… a photographer was born. One day while I was editing at a coffee shop, I met Alejandra and used photography as a way to spark a conversation. Little did we know that that one conversation would lead to marriage and eventually, Alejandra picking up a camera.

Each picture we take is therapeutic. Our passion for photography and the reason we continue to pursue it is simple: it’s about capturing the details and idiosyncrasies of life that are gone in an instant. They are about spending time with those whom you love and finding beauty in the mundane where others may not. It’s been an amazing journey so far.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
2020 was a remarkable year for different reasons to many people. We were all locked up at home, low on toilet paper, and admittedly kind of afraid of what life was going to be like for the next few months/years. All we could do was take it one day at a time.

Like so many other working Americans, photographers were out of work until things were back to normal. We were under “shelter in place” orders too… so any photoshoots or events we had in the books for the next few months were out the window. That meant no source of income for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, for us, we had a nest egg so we had peace of mind.

There was, however, somewhat of a silver lining amidst all this chaos: times like these forced us to reflect on our lives and focus on the important things like family, health, and happiness. And perhaps it was a blessing that we were all being encouraged to focus on those things.

On the business side of things, we finally got a chance to finish off projects we kept pushing off. It’s given us a chance to slow down, re-evaluate and make sure what we are doing is in line with why we are doing it. This free time has encouraged us to get back to doing the little things we love, like picking up old hobbies or discovering new ones!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
