Hi Jake, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
JT Crystals started in June 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona. I started during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Before the pandemic, I was working in the Physical Therapy Clinic as a Physical Therapist Technician. JT Crystals started first with custom crystal boxes for a family member. Then I started getting multiple orders at once and I kept making custom boxes. I learned about Reiki Healing months following. Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or/and physical healing.
After making boxes for a year I began to make beaded crystal bracelets. In July 2021, I started making custom crystal bracelets. Since then, I’ve started and now make crystal jewelry from rings, earrings, necklaces, anklets, healing oils, and healing candles. I am a Reiki Healer, Tarot Reader, Jewelry Maker, & Candler Maker. The reason I started JT Crystals is that I want to use my healing gifts to help heal and spread healing to others with every product.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of a small business is never a smooth road. The hard work, time sacrificed, smiles on customers’ faces, and the healing spread is worth all the struggles. Some of the struggles I faced was being unemployed at the time of starting my business. I was living with a roommate at the time and working for DoorDash and InstaCart.
In February of 2022, I moved back home to San Antonio from Phoenix, Arizona. I lived in Arizona for 7 years on my own. Moving back home was a decision made to help build and spread my business here and to be with family.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in handmade crystal jewelry from rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and anklets. All my jewelry is handmade with unconditional love and charged with Reiki healing energy. I make soy-based candles that are non-toxic and pet friendly. The candles are also charged with Reiki energy and dressed with crystals and herbs. My healing oils are scented for aromatherapy. The scents that I offer are rose, lavender, jasmine, eucalyptus & and peppermint, and lemongrass. The factors that set me apart from others are my hands and my aura. The way I make jewelry, oils, candles, and heal others is different from others. People are gravitated towards me and my healing aura. I love meeting new people everywhere I go!
My goal here is to spread healing with everything I do. There is intention and love in everything I do and make. I am proudest of never giving up on myself or my dreams. At 15, I had emergency craniotomy surgery. I had brain surgery to remove three brain tumors from my occipital lobe. I was a freshman in high school while attending community college at San Antonio College. I experienced six months of intensive physical therapy three times a week after surgery. I was struggling with depression, PTSD, and anxiety. I graduated in 2015 with my associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and my high school diploma. Then, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona to attend Grand Canyon University. I graduated in 2018 with my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with an Emphasis on Sports Performance. After graduating, I was working as a physical therapist technician.
I was unemployed during the pandemic in 2020. I started working for DoorDash and InstaCart to pay my bills. After months of unemployment, I created and started JT Crystals. I first started with custom crystal boxes. A year later. I started making my own crystal jewelry, candles, and oils, learned tarot, and became Reiki Healer. I’ve always known I was going to make things for people and spread healing. Now I am doing it! The journey of my small business is just getting started.
What matters most to you? Why?
The thing that matters the most to me is unconditional love. Unconditional love is where everything good comes from. Having a genuine heart and good intentions matters to me because it begins a chain reaction. Accepting all people in life matters to me. Being loved and showing love to others matters to me.
Spreading joy and light matters to me. There are many things that matter to me and they all come from unconditional love. The heart chakra is the center chakra of the body. Once the heart chakra is open to unconditional love towards yourself and others, life will feel and look different. Love is light and light is love. We are here and we’re meant to spread it to each other.
