Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelyn Bustillos.
Hi Jacquelyn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been planning and coordinating events for over 10 years for family and close friends. In 2023 I got my first event and it took off from there. While being a single mom and working FT I’ve managed to still build my business from the ground up, although it hasn’t been easy, it’s rewarding being able to assist couples with their special day. Also with in the last few months I’ve added additional services and building a team. Watching something I dreamed about slowly turn into reality reminds me that hard work and determination really does pay off.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not even close. There have been days of working full time and going to work a wedding or event til midnight. Than wake up and have wrestling tournament or cheer comps for my kids. Moments of being burnout, balancing motherhood and business, missing sleep, and questioning if I could really do it all. There were times I felt overlooked, exhausted, and stretched thin trying to be everything for everyone.
But every struggle taught me resilience. Being a single mom forced me to keep going even when things felt impossible. And now, seeing my business grow into something I truly love makes every sacrifice worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an event planner and coordinator who specializes in creating meaningful, detail-driven events that feel personal, seamless, and memorable. From weddings and engagement parties to baby showers, corporate events, and luxury celebrations, I love bringing a client’s vision to life while making the entire process feel organized and stress-free.
I’m especially known for my attention to detail, strong vendor relationships, creative styling, and the ability to make events flow smoothly from start to finish. Whether it’s managing timelines, coordinating décor, creating beautiful setups, or handling behind-the-scenes logistics, I truly care about every part of the experience.
What I’m most proud of is building my business while being a full-time working single mom. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but every challenge has shaped the way I serve my clients, with compassion, hard work, resilience, and heart.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely care. I treat every event as if it were my own, and I want my clients to feel supported, heard, and excited throughout the entire process. I believe people remember how you made them feel, and creating those unforgettable moments is my favorite part of what I do.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t happen overnight and success usually comes with a lot of sacrifice, patience, and perseverance behind the scenes. As someone who has OCD and wants life to fall in place in every aspect, there were moments I doubted myself, felt overwhelmed, or questioned if all the hard work was worth it, especially while balancing motherhood, a full-time job, and building a business.
But I’ve learned that consistency matters more than perfection. Showing up, even on the hard days, eventually adds up. I’ve also learned the importance of building genuine relationships, staying true to who you are, and treating people with kindness and respect in this industry.
Most importantly, I’ve learned to believe in myself, even before everything falls into place.
