Hi Jacqueline “Jax”, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
With 25 years of experience in makeup artistry, I have had the privilege of honing my craft alongside industry legends. My career highlights include working with the renowned Laura Mercier on her traveling team, which provided invaluable insights into the world of high-end beauty.
I then had the exciting opportunity to participate in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, contributing to three season finales and elimination episodes of Project Runway. This experience not only elevated my profile but also catalyzed remarkable growth for my business in San Antonio.
As a result of this momentum, my team expanded from four to twenty talented professionals, and we moved to a larger studio to accommodate our growing clientele. Today, I proudly lead a diverse group of the city’s best makeup artists and stylists, all of whom share a commitment to excellence and professionalism. Our stellar reputation speaks for itself, reflecting the dedication and artistry that define our work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our transition during this growth phase has been quite seamless. While we did experience some challenges in relocating to a larger space and identifying the right professionals to join our team, I feel fortunate that everything progressed at a manageable pace. I’ve also been lucky to have an exceptional team by my side throughout this journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets our studio apart is our broad focus; we don’t limit ourselves to a single category, ensuring that we’re well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of prospective clients. We cater to private clients for headshots, professional branding, and portraits, while also being a top choice for brides and weddings. Additionally, we excel in commercial work for television and produce high-quality content for catalogs and print. Our team is trained to listen to client needs and effectively execute their requests. I’m proud to say that we consistently showcase our versatility, delivering everything from polished professional looks to creative editorial magazine covers.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I have no idea how to answer this one. We’re pretty much an open book with our clients if they have any questions. I’m a pretty boring person outside of the studio. We’ve met some really interesting characters along the way, we could fill a book in that regard. I don’t think of myself as the main character in any story, more of a supporting actress role. I can say my team members are the same, we are so genuinely excited for the people in our chairs so they are the focus. We live pretty normal quiet lives outside of the excitement of our jobs.
