Check Out Dartanyan Kane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dartanyan Kane.

Hi Dartanyan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started New Years Day 2024, playing a show at a regional venue the Arcadia Live. The band has metamorphosed from its original lineup into the group we have now over the years, leading to the guys we have now. Dartanyan Kane lead vocals & guitar, Saxy Wayne on vocals & saxophone, Jay Hernandez on vocals & keys, Danny Thomas on bass, and Jordan Widener on drums.

Jordan, Jay & Danny all only joined the band in 2026, but have locked themselves in as critical pieces of the band.

Saxy Wayne & Dartanyan Kane became friends in 2022 around a campfire at LEAF fest where they played music for 8 hours straight. There was a spark of magic and they wanted to make a band together, but it took them two years to get to the point they could be in a band together. Dartanyan lived in Wichita Falls Tx (5 hours away from Kerrville) and moved there 6 months after their meeting to pursue this magic he’d never experienced before.

After moving to Kerrville and working at a bar for 3 months, the band had gotten so busy that Dartanyan quit his job and went full time in music. Since the Arcadia Live, we have played well over 500 shows as a band, recently having playing Luckenbach’s main stage and making a live album from it.

Now we have 2 singles recorded and in the mixing process, and an album written and set to record starting August in Austin. The singles were co-written by Saxy & Dartanyan, but all the album songs were written by Dartanyan this time. We have begun writing songs together as a band, and intend to release many more albums.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have went through probably 17 members to find the right group for our sound. 17 phenomenal, talented musicians who we still love – but that much interpersonal pressure lead to a lot of problematic things. Blow ups behind the scenes, ditching the band before a big show, the weirdest one was one of our members left the band without a word, only to come tell us they sacrificed an animal to their God so they won’t be playing music anymore.

The most tragic indecent to happen to the band is most recent, the passing of our friend Charlie Hueber. Charlie booked us to play the City of Santa Fe’s July 4th Celebration at the Galveston Rodeo & Fairgrounds. He passed away on a family vacation in Mexico only months after he moved to Santa Fe, and we plan on making the hour he gave us into a tribute to him.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We play southern-rock/funky Americana music with inspirations from everything under the sun. We specialize in putting on a high energy & fun show – we have some of the best musicians in the region together in this.
Our pride in our music, and individuality, comes from our ability to cross genre boundaries in ways people wouldn’t expect, and to execute it at a high level.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Connecting with the audience, helping people to voice how they feel through our music when words cannot do that alone.
