Check Out Bunny Le Fluer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bunny Le Fluer.

Hi Bunny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in 2015 in my kitchen sewing with my mother in law. In 2018 I became chronically ill and began the long arduous journey of figuring out what my diagnosis was. No one talks about the depression of learning what your new life looks like. I would be fighting for what little control I had left for the next two years. While this was happening the business closed down and we moved from the small town of Alice Texas to San Antonio during 2020, yes that’s right covid. I think everyone was impacted by how life changed as a collective. We began making masks for Healthcare providers and knew we were not done sewing just yet. In 2021 we reopened the business back up to focus our work on costuming and accessories. We were given the opportunity to create costuming for the San Antonio Zoo, various entertainment productions, and costuming for circus, burlesque and the drag community. During this time we were awarded a small grant by Luminaria and we were able to launch our website. Our work has been featured on performers across the county. I feel very fortunate that I am living my dream and get to pursue my passions with this new life that I do not take for granted.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Managing chronic illness was probably the hardest part of my journey. I didn’t think I would be coming back and truthfully that version of me never did. Everything was all just so overwhelming the constant medicine changes and doctor’s visits, the poking and proding. I felt like I’d never seen the end of it, but I did. I can confidently say I am on the other side of that mountain with knowledge, understanding and compassion for myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make custom clothing and accessories. I specialize in rhinestoning and removable clothing. I am best known for my creative costuming and skillset. I am the most proud that our costuming was featured in a commercial for the San Antonio Zoo I happened to see the commercial at the airport and I cried. What sets me apart from other people is my me vs me mentality. I want to out do myself and continue to level up in my field of expertise. I will forever be a student with a willingness to learn how to push past my limitations for a successful end result.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe luck (good or bad) has much to do with my hard work. I have worked diligently for every opportunity, every referral, and every job well done. I created my path, forged in long nights, and spilled rhinestones, I do not leave anything to chance.
