Bass, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
WE ARE H-HOUR AND THIS IS OUR TIME ON TARGET! H-HOUR is a Veteran-based band from Texas, we bring a particular insight to our styles of music – military metal, couples therapy metal, jalapeno metal, and more. We don’t aim for fame; we prefer a small, tight-knit fan base. So please do us a favor, and tell your military friends and family about us. We are confident our songs and personalities will resonate well with them. Camouflage is the official color of H-HOUR.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
H-HOUR was established in 2023 as a power trio. After some unexpected line-up changes, I have been operating H-HOUR as a 1-man band. I am Bass poTaters, and I utilize backing tracks in the absence of live band mates: pre-recording the guitars, bass, and backing vocals, then doing my best to add interesting programmed drums to my tunes. My only real goal at the time was to not lose momentum as it takes time to find like-minded musicians and gigs were already booked. It has been very rewarding to perform solo! The kudos from the crowds and the other bands are highly motivating. H-HOUR is steadily writing new material and working with a variety of musicians. It’s been a blast meeting all the cool people at the shows. H-HOUR can’t express enough how much we appreciate our fans, aka, The Ground Force (those with toes at the shows) & our Close Air Support (our fans around the globe and across the internet). Please continue to wear your camo to our gigs, it looks awesome to see our fan base in assembly. Be sure to dance with our 10 foot back-up dancer, Noodles, our on-stage air puppet and biggest fan.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
H-HOUR is proud to be a part of the Veteran community. I personally was destined for a uniform, and am grateful I chose camouflage over an orange jumpsuit. Our bass & drum grooves, our on-stage energy, and our connection with military audiences are what makes our band unique from others. H-HOUR starts the writing process with heavy & funky music, then adds lyrics about hard times & good times. Our most current list of featured tracks includes: Sua Sponte (dedicated to US Army Rangers), Fameless (H-HOUR’s first song), Hold My Beer (all about the good times), and Scarlet Scourge (tributing the US Marine Corps). The goal is to properly record, master, and release a few tracks in 2025. H-HOUR has gigs booked throughout 2025, please follow us closely for more.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The term is H-HOUR is the planned hour of attack for US military operations, hence the phrase – THIS IS OUR TIME ON TARGET.
