Meet Joey Patino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Patino.

Hi Joey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’d been in the local music scene for a little way, but I had never felt I was able to properly express the type of music I wanted to write, I was lucky enough to hear Chon and The Fall of Troy, and was like WOAH you can write that type of music and people will jam it??

So with that new inspiration, I found some friends who would help me make Roshii what it is today, we are also huge weebs so, in addition to playing original music, we also perform Anime cover sets, we are actually playing at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention center for San Japan soon and super excited!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Relatively, yes it has been! When you select the right people to work with, it makes things way easier. The biggest struggle for us was definitely the pandemic when covid first kicked off. We had just released some music, and our steam was really picking up! But we got back to where we were!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a mathrock/(jrock-inspired) band, and I feel like we are really well known for our super lively gigs! We are super blessed to have fans who know every word, even the ones without official recordings or releases which blows my mind, to be honest.

They make our shows so much fun! I’d say we are probably most proud of our effect on people who deeply love our music, it’s the best feeling in the world to have given somebody happiness in that way.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
Having a good time and uplifting each other! We are all in this to have fun, anything else is just a plus!
