Life & Work with Daisy Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Hernandez.

Hi Daisy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always new I wanted to be in the cosmetology industry, since I was young my mom was a hairstylist herself and I grew up watching her and I loved it. When I got to high school, I knew the moment I became a junior, I would take the cosmetology classes they offered. As soon as that year came I got in and never looked back, I learned so much my first year and by my second year in I fell in love with doing nails, I would practice on myself my friends from school and it was something I never thought I would learn so quick. I had a job my senior year just so I could buy everything I needed to officially start my own business as a Nail Technician. After I graduated in 2015, I quit my part time job and I officially started working for myself as a nail technician. I have been working in this for almost 7 years it has not been the easiest but definitely not the worst. I’ve had great support from family, and my boyfriend who never gave up on me and always pushed me to keep going even when times got tough. I love what I do and I appreciate everyone that keeps me busy and allowing me to show my art through nails.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not, their are times where you don’t get booked, or people who cancel. We have our off seasons and our best seasons but that’s part of this. There will always be someone new but that should never be a reason for you to give up on yourself or your dream.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I offer acrylic nails. I love working with acrylic, whether its a solid color or blending 2-3 colors to make an ombre or marble looking nails there is so much you could do and so much you could create with just 1 or more colors. I don’t personally think I specialize in anything specific because Im always open to try new things to create new things as well. What I do love is rhinestones, and placing them on the nails just to add a sparkle to someones nails. Im most proud of how far I have gotten and proud that I never gave up no matter what got in the way. I would think what sets me apart from others is that I just always go for it without questioning myself or the challenge of anything.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love helping new nail technicians or anyone that is starting up their own business. When I started I had so much support from other local nail artist, lash techs, hairstylist etc. Anyone could message me on instagram who want to collaborate with me. A simple like or follow helps a lot, and also booking with me to get a great nail set.
