Hidden Gems: Meet Stephanie Duncan of Pawsicles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Duncan.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In my second year of teaching, I knew I wanted to start my own business, and I for sure wanted it to be something pertaining to dogs. During this discovery phase, I noticed my dog’s hankering for ice cubes and that’s where the idea for dog popsicles came in.

I had previous experience working at an emergency vet clinic, so I knew mostly what dogs could and could not consume, and the research began with creating recipes healthy for dogs. The transition to bite size was when I noticed some of my fluffy customers were a bit too small to enjoy a full Pawsicle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road began smoothly at the start when I was getting invited to events and able to meet all the owners and their fur babies. When Covid hit, I could no longer do those things and began to get discouraged on my journey.

I picked back up when the restrictions started to dwindle and a reoccurring customer kept telling me how much his dog loves Pawsicles. We are still on our journey to rebuilding and returning to events.

As you know, we’re big fans of Pawsicles LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I make bite-sized ice cream for dogs. My products are human-grade and dog-safe in order to provide a healthy snack that will cool off hot pups in the Texas heat. I am proud to offer a refreshing bite-sized healthy treat to dogs and my genuine approach to honestly wanting to pet all the floofs.

My product is different from others by being bite-sized and made out of all-natural ingredients. Seriously, all my products could be pulled from a farm/garden.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
At the start, I was featured in San Antonio Express News twice and featured on SA Live twice. I am so grateful for those opportunities and luck definitely came into play with that.
