Hidden Gems: Meet Dempsey Warren of Water to Wine Hospitality

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dempsey Warren.

Hi Dempsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi there friends, I’m Dempsey Warren. I am a to-do list lovin’ leader who is passionate about Jesus & the way He gathered and celebrated people.
Even as a 7-year-old, I had a deep desire to bring people together to celebrate and the drive to make it happen (shout out to my mom for letting her 7-year-old plan Christmas). Since then, those innate desires have been refined through receiving my B.B.A. in Sports, Event, and Tourism Management, my M.B.A. in Marketing & Management and valuable experience in the wedding, corporate event & non-profit industries.

I started Water To Wine Hospitality with the desire to model Jesus by serving people with excellence and ministering to their physical needs as well as their eternal needs. An event, whether a wedding, a corporate party, a baby shower or a non-profit fundraiser, can be so much more than a one-time interaction. It can be a space where people feel treasured, celebrated & encouraged in whatever walk of life they are. We thank the Lord each day that we get to help our clients create this type of space for their people to gather.

When I’m not busy working on creating spaces of celebration for my clients, you can catch me creating spaces of celebration in my own home. Whether that is Friends-Giving with 80 of my “closest” friends or my husband and me sitting down with our families, I truly believe that life is best lived around the table.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As I am sure the answer is for most small business owners, the road has not been smooth but it has been worth it! In the event world, each client and event is so different that it brings its own unique challenges. I feel like with each project, I am having to learn something new, and sometimes on the fly!

Also, I found out I was pregnant the month after launching this business. I felt a strong pull to be an involved mother and to be an engaged business owner. I am grateful that through some rough patches, we have found a rhythm as a family that allows for me to serve well in both spaces.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Water to Wine Hospitality is a full-service event planning and design firm.

We find such joy in serving clients that want to host an event at their home or ranch or just own personal space and are really finding a niche in that part of the event world. It allows us to really bring out our heart for hospitality and implement touches that make guests feel warm & welcome and our clients feel celebrated.

My specific background in large corporate events allows for our superb understanding of logistics that can be transferred from small personal celebrations to large wedding and everything in between! I think that the high logistics capacity truly sets us apart from other event planners.

Our Christian values also set us apart in the industry. Since we openly and boldly proclaim Christ, we want to be extra diligent to make sure we represent that well. The heartbeat of Water to Wine Hospitality is to serve our clients throughout the entire planning process with the same attitude as
that of Christ Jesus: excellence and humility.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I would not claim to be a risk taker but for any risks that are presented, I calculate them very well. I think that in the industry to be a trendsetter and to reach the next goal for your business, there is obviously some risk involved.

The biggest risk I feel like I take is believing in myself in taking on the client that seems a little bit bigger than what I have in my portfolio. This type of risk has allowed me to grow and learn in ways that not only serve that particular client but all the ones to come.
