Today we’d like to introduce you to Browyn King.
Hi Browyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This business started after my third child and it was definitely a God thing. I learned how to use a Cricut cutting machine when I was on maternity leave, and my business kept building itself up and has now evolved into less Circuit, and more creative freedom with Resin Tumblers and Pens. In the beginning, I was making gifts for family, friends, and my kid’s teachers.
Soon after, those people that I gifted things to started coming to me asking for me to make gifts for their family and friends. It really kicked off almost 3 years ago right before Christmas. The Babes Support Babes team (@bsbsatx) asked me to make personalized wine glasses for an event they were doing. The event was for other small business owners to connect and support each other.
It was a great time to kick start my business and I put handmade business cards in each glass. It was literally so spontaneous and last minute. The small business community scooped me up and took me in as one of their sisters and I have not looked back since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since I literally launched this business overnight and kind of spontaneously, it was a huge adjustment for my family to start getting orders that needed to get done by a certain deadline. In the beginning, especially I had a hard time balancing orders and my family life. I also was taking on a lot of different kinds of projects in the beginning, instead of focusing on just a few items.
This was great because I got to learn how to do many different crafts & projects, but it was not really cost-effective or time-effective for me. I was doing projects from home decor to foam can coolers, to t-shirts. Now that I have been able to focus on what I really love to do, glitter tumblers, pens, and resin projects, I feel like I have been able to improve and perfect the craft.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My small business specializes in Epoxy tumblers, glitter tumblers, glitter gel pens, and more recently I’ve added badge holders and phone grips. I believe what sets me apart from others is my customer service.
I am so appreciative of each and every order I get, and I want it to be absolutely perfect for each person. I love getting to work with my customers to find the perfect design and style for them.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love listening to all types of audiobooks while I work. Right now, I go through about 2-3 books a week! I also love listening to Dave Ramsey, as our family is currently working through the baby steps!
