Exploring Life & Business with Shawn Lowry of No Perfect Parent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Lowry.

Hi Shawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a father of 4 lovely children, and have worked within the school district for about 10 years! I noticed a lot of kids dropping out of school, some joining gangs, and being forced to grow up quicker than they should. So I wanted to create something to help uplift kids, which is where my brand A Dreamer’s Ambition started.

But after a few years of working with the youth, it became apparent to me that wasn’t enough. I realized that in order to help the next generation, which is our youth, it would need to start with us as parents because ultimately, we set the foundation for our household! And that’s how No Perfect Parent and No Perfect Father came about.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a crazy journey for me, especially these last few years. From covid impacting the nation, then packing up from the only place I’ve ever known in California, and moving to San Antonio. I feel like I started all over in a way, by not knowing anyone or where anything is out here. It has definitely been an adjustment, not only for me but for my wife and kids as well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about No Perfect Parent?
No Perfect Parent was created to not only help parents have a better connection with their kids but also have a better understanding of themselves and the type of parent they want to be. Since my specialty is Emotional Intelligence, I help parents, and especially fathers, discover and unlock some of the trauma from our childhood we tend to bury or ignore. This is key in. my line of work because it helps us as parents understand why we have been practicing some of the habits we have, and even why we parent the way we do! Getting to the root of these helps parents unlock their full potential, and helps them really dig deep within themselves to discover the best version of themselves!

I have a Facebook group for all parents called No Perfect Parent, a course called Self-Elevation: A Reset Mentality for Better Parenting, a separate group catered to fathers called No Perfect Father, and I also do one-on-one coaching with families, and also individual coaching as well! I’m so proud of the amazing breakthroughs I’ve been able to witness, and it makes me appreciate the work I do that much more! It’s so humbling for me.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
One of my favorite childhood memories is when I rode my bike with my grandpa and brother! We rode our bikes for about 47 miles, from one city to another! We stopped to get lunch, and then came back.

This was one of my favorite memories as a child because it gave me a chance to spend time with my grandpa and brother, both of who I looked up to. We were able to create a memory that will last with me forever, and that’s part of the reason why helping families is so important to me.
