Today we’d like to introduce you to Owen Davis.
Hi Owen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from a little town called Lampasas, which is just about an hour west of Austin. I moved to San Antonio after graduating high school in 2019 and told myself I’d never go back home. SA quickly became my home as if I had been there my whole.
I started college at UTSA and am now in my 4th year of Architecture school. Up until recently, I had only seen architecture as my one path until I discovered that I had an eye for photography. It has always been something I was interested in but either couldn’t afford it or didn’t have the knowledge to pursue it.
Finally, after months of saving, I got myself a camera and got to work. I found out that photography was something I was passionate about and not half bad. I combined my drive in the fitness community with my newfound talent for photography and started my own fitness photography business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is ever just easy, cause if it was it wouldn’t be worth it.
I went into photography with absolutely zero knowledge. I spent hours researching what I wanted to get for myself, how to use it, what each setting met, etc. It may look like it’s just pointed and clicked and you have a perfect photo every time but there’s a lot more behind the scenes.
The most challenging thing is probably finding new and creative ideas. So many people are into photography that it’s hard to find something “new” and that’s a challenge I conquer every day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what sets me apart from most is my drive.
I’m constantly meeting new people and asking them to try new things with me. I want to push others to get out of their comfort zone and I try to find people that do the same for me.
Fitness photography is also a newer form of content so every time I post something or put my work out there I get good feedback from other creative individuals that help as well.
Any big plans?
My plans as of right now are to make it through college.
I want to get my architecture degree because it’s something I’ve been interested in forever. As for photography, that path may take me to a new home, but that’s a secret in the works.
