Daily Inspiration: Meet Frank & Erika Radis of Candlelight Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank and Erika Radis.

Frank and Erika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My husband and I started our local graphic design company, Candlelight Creative, in the spring of 2020. San Antonio, just like the rest of the world, was experiencing the initial weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Schools and businesses were shutting down and it was becoming increasingly more difficult for many companies to advertise and market in some of the more traditional ways they were accustomed to. It seemed that a lot of business owners were turning towards digital marketing as a way to reach potential clients while staying safe during these unusual times.

With the financial strain the pandemic had on these owners, we wanted to provide design work that was not only eye-catching and professional, but that would also come at a reasonable cost. With my degree in graphic design and my husband’s knack for advertising, we decided this would be the perfect time to start a small local graphic design company to cater to our communities’ needs!

Over the last year and a half Candlelight Creative has had the wonderful opportunity to help market and advertise many local businesses in San Antonio and its surrounding areas. We strive to produce creative and eye-catching design work for our clients and love that we are able to help our local business community in the process!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been fairly smooth, but of course, no business starting up goes without its challenges. Our situation was a little unique in that during the initial months of starting up our three young children were home from school doing remote learning because of the pandemic. As many working parents experienced during that time, it is sometimes difficult to try to get work done while your children have needs that need tending to as well.

Another bump in the road was the massive freeze we experienced in February of this year. Being a technology-based business, going without power definitely made meeting client deadlines impossible that week. We have wonderful clients who were, of course, understanding, but it certainly made for an unexpected bump in the road for our business!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a local graphic design business, specializing in logo and marketing materials design, although we really do all manner of design work for our clients! We are most known for our simple yet eye-catching design style.

We believe what sets us apart from others is our ability to communicate with our clients to make sure the final product they receive is exactly what they were looking for. At the end of our client interaction, we want them to walk away feeling like they had the very best experience they could have, and that they love the design work they received.

A company’s logo or marketing materials really are the face of its brand. It’s super important to us for those design items to represent the client’s business completely, whether that be through color, style, or imagery!

How do you define success?
There are, of course, so many different facets of success in life, but success for us in our business is when our clients are thrilled with the design services and products they receive. If our clients walk away loving our work, we definitely consider it a success and it’s always what we’re aiming for.
