Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxana Marines.
Hi Roxana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The idea behind PlushPicnics210 started at the peak of the pandemic spring of 2020. With everything being closed and the city on lockdown, I had to find ways to keep my kids entertained. As a single mom, I would take my kids to parks or somewhere I could find good scenery and would set up a picnic for us. It really started to be our thing and something we enjoyed doing.
From there, I really wanted to expand on what people thought of picnics as something more luxurious. I started providing services for any occasion, anniversaries, birthdays, date night, proposals, you name it, we can do it.
This year we have expanded on working on larger group events not only picnics but working on bridal showers, bigger events with more headcount providing more services with table settings, balloon garlands; and so much more. Our business continues to grow.
With the help of my best-friend Kristen Martinez, the vision for these events come to life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As for any new upcoming business, there have been some challenges. For instance, making sure I am providing the best pricing for our clients, understanding timing on setups, being aware of what we should provide as a business to our clients so they can have the best experience during their event, and overall just learning the best way to stay organized for the year to come.
Another obstacle that we run into is people’s perceptions of what a picnic is. We are not your normal picnic.
Anything you can think of at a picnic is provided with our services. We provide wine or sparkling water, a personalized wineglass for the attending parties, a Bluetooth speaker for music, chargers for their mobile devices, any game you can think of, a Polaroid to capture the moments, selfie sticks, and a tripod.
To seal the deal we also provide add on’s that can be added to any event fruit trays; chocolate-covered fruit which we partner with local small businesses to provide, and food if requested.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a single mother, I still have a full-time job working for a telecommunications company providing services to local and small businesses. I am a go-getter and a person that consistently pushes myself to be greater.
I am most proud of myself for being able to juggle all the hats that I have and still give 100 percent as a mother, as a co-worker, as a daughter, and as a business owner.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would definitely say I am one to take risks. This pandemic definitely taught me to be tougher. As a mother, I am a person that doesn’t allow myself to fail at anything.
I want to continue to push the envelope on what an event can be and continue to wow our clients and continue to evolve as a business.
