Conversations with Damius

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damius.

Hi Damius, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in Hondo, TX. I go by the name of “Damius”. I’ve always enjoyed horror movies and horror shows (such as Tales From The Crypt, Creepshow, etc.) which helped inspire me to create this horror image and music.

I started recording at Bad Vibe Studios in 2017 and have been creating music ever since. I’ve been featured on a magazine cover and have had my music played on radio stations in the US, UK, and Brazil.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a bumpy road, lol. I struggled with finding my audience at first and have lost a lot of investments.

However, as I continue to go through this journey it makes me appreciate how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned. I’ve learned where my audience is and have learned to deal with the fact that not everyone will like my art.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Horrorcore Rapper. I am known for having very dark and angry music mixed with some comedy.

I am most proud of getting my song “Twisted Love” played on the radio in the US, UK, and Brazil. I am also proud that I’ve been able to reach over 30k listeners on Spotify alone.

I think what sets me apart from others is my demon character for Damius. Although the character can be dark, the character can also be very comical.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Since I get most of my inspiration from horror movies, I usually try to find horror movies on apps such as Shudder, HBO Max, etc. I also enjoy hearing/reading eerie stories whether it’s on blogs or podcasts.

I don’t really have any favorite blogs or podcasts but I’m always searching for scary stories.
