Conversations with Antoinette Michelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette Michelle.

Hi Antoinette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It all started in 1977, well it did! I started singing at my grandparent’s church in Alabama at the age of 3 so I was told. I’ve always sung at their church and I have been singing ever since. My grandparents passed many years ago, my grandmother passed when I was 6 years old but grandma kept me in the kitchen with her and showed me a thing or two about cooking, baking, and singing.

See grandma had her own catering business and restaurant that she ran from their church all while leading the choir and raising her children, I can honestly say if I didn’t have the grandmother that I had I’m not sure how my life would have turned out. I’m glad that she was the woman for the task.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No! Life will never be a smooth road. There will always be obstacles and challenges that come to stop your progress.

But if you have faith in God and continue to persevere, I don’t care what struggles come up, you can make it if you would just hold on! In 2020 my husband of 21 years was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure. This was not only not a good time to be diagnosed but Covid hit the world like nothing we had ever seen before. During this time my husband’s kidneys shut down and were put on dialysis immediately. He was 40 at the time and this was the hardest thing we had ever been through in our lives and married life. We could have easily given up and lived in fear like the rest of the world but we decided to live by faith and not by sight!

I released my 1st single Just Hold On by Antoinette Michelle, now on all digital platforms that sell music. My husband had to have emergency surgery in order to do dialysis! My husband was fighting for his life and I fought alongside him. 2 years later my husband received a kidney transplant by the Grace of God on March 5, 2022, and we are still here today giving God the Glory and telling everyone who needs to know, if they can just hold on they can make it. Talk about struggles along the way I’m sure I’m not the first person to go through the struggles but they are necessary to make you stronger and to know what is actually on the inside of you.

You know you are stronger than you think!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
There are many things that I do as well as being an artist. I absolutely love to create all things well. Right now I am a professional singer, songwriter, baker, and chef. I have been called the singing chef or singing baker, whichever I’m called I love what I do and I love making people smile. The music I create is gospel music, I absolutely love to encourage and inspire people through the gift of music.

I love this more than cooking and baking combined. I’m most proud of being able to share the love of God with others and bring encouragement to their lives. What sets me apart from others? I’m not really sure I’m not in a competition with anyone but me. When I’ve done my absolute best and given it my all with what God has given me to do, I’m very thankful and humbled to be able to share whatever I create with the world.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is giving to others, helping people, and being purposeful in life. Why? Because we only get one chance at life! Make someone else’s day, put a smile on a stranger’s face. Do something unexpected for someone!

This makes me happy, along with being a wife and mom.
