Check Out Olivia Martinez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Martinez.

Olivia Martinez

Hi Olivia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a very young age, I have been passionate about traveling. I worked for many years in a travel agency, where I had the opportunity to start traveling to other countries. During these years, my friends, family, and people close to me contacted me to ask for advice, tips, and how I did this or that. Over time, they told me to dedicate myself to blogging about my trips, but I didn’t love the idea at that time because I don’t like to talk in front of the cameras, and I didn’t want to become the protagonist of a trip when the trip is the protagonist. After years, I stopped working at the agency and began to develop as a PR for a YouTuber. Once I began to know and understand the digital world, I couldn’t stop; my colleagues and current boss encouraged me to open my channel. Since then, every trip I make, I try to document things that seem very obvious, but at the moment of truth, they are not. Because I remember that on my first trips abroad, it was not so easy to access technology, and I suffered from it then. That’s why I go from the most basic to something more complex, like sharing a trip itinerary, always focusing on the trip, not me. I decided to call it “Oli de viaje” because there used to be a local joke at the agency, where every time they asked for me at the office, it coincided that I was on a trip, so they said all the time, and Where is Oli? De viaje 🙂

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy path because I did not study Marketing, I am an Administrator, and I didn’t know anything about social media when I started, but it has become a daily challenge. It challenges me to try much harder to learn; in this of technology, you have to be up to date. My biggest challenge has been creating something that everyone who travels will like or satisfy everyone who sees my content, but I have learned that just as not all trips are for everyone, my content is not for everyone either. It’s alright. What I do, I do with my heart and with the hope that my experience can help someone.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Nowadays, I work as a PR, and at the same time, I am developing myself as a travel content creator. I have focused on giving very basic travel tips; for example, if you are going to Europe and traveling by train, in my content, I show you how and where you can buy a train ticket and how to use it. I also share itineraries of my trips, informing about some relevant data of the visited site. What has made me different is to focus only on the trip and not on me during my trip; you know what I mean? I want to avoid becoming aspirational; I like that destination to be your inspiration to travel. I am most proud of knowing that my content has helped someone.

Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
Every trip is a reminder that living is fantastic, and I come back trying to be a better version of myself; traveling around the world makes me very happy, and even more so when the people I love travel with me, and the memories that I am accumulating are a treasure for me.
