Check Out Fernando Lemus’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Lemus.

Hi Fernando, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got my start in music at the early age of 11, and it has been an endless pursuit and love for all thing music since then. I felt a great connection with drums so dedicated my time and energy to being the best I could be, and over time fell in love with the recording side of music as well. I knew I couldn’t afford to stay at a studio day in and out so I launched my own Recording Studio, FL Recordings in 2010, with the bare minimum.

Over the last decade, the studio has grown to what it is today, through passion and dedication. I have been fortunate to have opportunities to make music at a professional level. Such as being signed with my last band, Silence the Messenger, which subsequently released two albums & Toured North America multiple times. working with exceptional musicians both in studio and remotely, having a successful YouTube drumming channel, and my latest personal music endeavor, Lions at the Gate.

Music has given me a career, purpose, and has always felt like the path I needed to be on.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Music always felt natural and comfortable to me, but that’s not to say that the path is. I always perceived it as a linear path to becoming “successful”, play in a band, play shows, hone your skills and get signed, but in reality, it’s more like a spider web you try to navigate. Pitfalls all around and some who say they will help, don’t or can’t.

I was lucky that most of my professional bandmates were great and easy to get along with. It was Van troubles and equipment expenses that always brought us to near poverty on the road.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the owner of FL Recordings, a music production studio located in south San Antonio. I specialize in Rock and Metal Productions, and am known for my Drumming (session work & videos) as well as my audio Mixing skills.

As mentioned I’ve had the honor of being a part of hundreds of works in my time, both locally and internationally. What I found that many people struggle with is finding someone who is as passionate about their music as they are, and that is where I come in. Passion, devotion and creativity are the three foundational blocks I bring to every project that I’m part of.

Some releases I’m particularly proud of are:

“Achilles & The Proclamation” by Silence the Messenger,
“Black Heart” by Within the Ruins,
“Find My Way” by Lions At The Gate,
and all current Lions at the Gate releases to name a few.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Google calendar is one of my favorite scheduling apps, helps me offload my brain of tasks and things I have to do that way I can better manage my work/life balance.

The six-figure creative podcast is also my go-to for better Business practices and implementations.
