Check Out Christina Lichtenberg’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Lichtenberg.

Hi Christina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I became a licensed cosmetologist before graduating high school through a program offered through my school. I have always had a passion for my career and I owe that passion all the credit for my success. I joined the military in my early 20s briefly, but returned back home to fiercely pursue my passion & OTL (one true love) hair! I opened my own business at the age of 21 in 2007 at a local salons by JC in Lincoln Heights.

I built my following before social media was a thing through face to face marketing. My foundation has been built solid with many years of education, and elevated customer service. We did the craziest thing mid-pandemic, and decided on an expansion project. My husband and I renovated a commercial building in Garden Ridge next door to the iconic Grumpy’s Mexican Cafe.

This is where I will now fulfill my next career goal: Building the careers of other beauty professionals. Bella Donna & Co is San Antonio’s FIRST full-service salon & spa to include med spa services. We are home to several beauty professionals, and to PA Toni Vargas. We pride ourselves on being a luxury spa that always delivers an elevated experience while you are in our chairs.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Running a business no matter how big or small will always face challenges.

Cultivating your own culture, & finding a staff that will embody that culture is a big one. The pandemic & recession have thrown some obstacles at us, but we were built to transcend. We have decided to always choose our company culture over anything else. If we remain focused on the client experience, we can never go wrong.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been doing hair for 20 years in the city of San Antonio. I specialize in creative color and Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Treatments. I have been using Redken products for the entirety of my career and am a certified Redken Specialist.

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to train at Toni & Guy to learn their very fashion-forward techniques. This has helped me create unique & customized hairstyles throughout my career.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love leadership books and podcasts that allow me to authentically express myself through my work.

Christina and the Bella Team are absolutely wonderful at what they do. I recently relocated from out of state about 3 weeks ago. Prior to my move I was researching salons and reviewing feedback from others on social media. Most hair salons are booked well in advance so I had to make sure I was ready for my grey hair touch up. I also wanted an all exclusive salon for all my needs. Somewhere I can build relationships with over time. There’s nothing like paying good money and feeling like a number. I reached out to Bella Donna for a consultation with Christina so I could be clear on pricing for both my daughter and I. We left that night with my daughters hair looking it’s best ever. I told Christina that I wanted something different. For over 20 years I’d ask my past hair dressers for ideas and never got help. Christina was so helpful with ideas and was excited to give me what I really wanted.

A week or so later, I had my appointment. I got a grey hair touch up, balayage, and a Brazilian blowout. I left with a new me, happy with Christina’s hard work, the staff is all so friendly, and I’ll definitely be a client from now on.
