Today we’d like to introduce you to Ada Esquivel.
Hi Ada, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first started photography and cinematography when I was a junior in high school. I had always had a passion for the arts but realized I loved capturing and recreating moments to be able to hold on to forever. I started photographing school events and my friends and family and started to branch out into connecting with Texas models and musicians. Along the way, I created great friends and mentors who taught me a lot of what I know today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, Nowadays, with the digital age, it is hard to feel like as a creative you can stand out amongst so many other talented individuals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a cinematographer and photographer, I’d say I’m still beginning in my journey there but I have come a long way since high school, I primarily shoot concert photography and videos, and create music videos with some talented SA native rappers and musicians. I’m also lucky enough to have an internship at Bakir visions films productions studio here located in San Antonio, as well as shoot alongside another SA native photographer Joseph Guillen. I’m proud of the connections and friends I have made along the way of this journey and proud of the growth that I have within my work, I’m hoping to create some features and short films within the near future that I have been having in the works.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important qualities I have carried with me are consistency with my work, and constantly learning, as well as my passion and hard work, being a freelancer/creative and sort of making a name for yourself takes all of that. It’s long days and nights of editing or late night shooting, and if you don’t have the passion and hard work for it, sooner or later you find yourself running out of energy and feeling complacent.
