Hi Felicity, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a makeup artist in 2016 during cosmetology school in San Antonio, Texas. From my humble beginnings working from home to building a loyal client base, my passion for enhancing natural beauty has been the cornerstone of my work. A pivotal moment early in my career was traveling to Moscow, Idaho, to provide hair and makeup services for a friend’s wedding. That experience solidified my love for bridal makeup artistry, inspiring me to continue refining my craft.
Through perseverance and dedication, I’ve grown my business into a full-time career, specializing in luxurious, personalized bridal makeup experiences. Taking classes from top makeup artists across Texas has allowed me to stay on top of trends and continually sharpen my skills. Today, I’m proud to serve clients in my private studio, offering services that make them feel beautiful and confident.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. In the beginning, I would only get one or two clients a month, and there were times when I went one to two months without any clients at all. Like many in the beauty industry, I faced challenges such as no-call no-shows and last-minute cancellations. These moments were difficult but taught me valuable lessons about setting boundaries and creating policies to protect my business and time. One pivotal experience was when a bride arrived almost an hour late for her wedding, which prompted me to create my first bridal contract and implement policies to ensure smoother operations for both myself and my clients.
I started out working from my home, and through persistence, hard work, and a commitment to growth, I was able to transition into my own private studio. This milestone was a testament to the growth of my business and the trust I’ve built with my clients over the years. My skills have grown tremendously as well. With time and experience, I’ve become more seasoned in my craft, and I now approach every client with confidence, precision, and a deeper understanding of their unique needs.
Each challenge has shaped me into the professional I am today. They’ve taught me resilience and the importance of staying adaptable in an ever-changing industry. What keeps me going is my passion for helping others feel beautiful and confident, which has been the driving force behind my success and growth.

Felicity Buie Makeup Artistry is a bridal-focused makeup business specializing in soft glam and luxurious bridal looks. What sets me apart is the experience I offer: a seamless and relaxing process from the first consultation to the final touch-up. I prioritize making every bride feel confident, radiant, and stress-free on their special day.
I’m most proud of the personal connections I’ve built with my clients over the years, many of whom have supported me since the beginning. My growth from working at home to owning my private studio reflects the trust my clients place in my skills and the value I provide. At the heart of my business is a commitment to excellence, ongoing education, and creating a calming, rejuvenating experience for everyone I work with.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, I envision expanding my reach and taking my artistry to new heights. I would love to travel more for my work, bringing my skills and passion to clients across the globe. A dream of mine is to see my work on incredible women like Taraji P. Henson and LeToya Luckett, both of whom inspire me with their talent and beauty. It would be a full-circle moment to contribute to their iconic looks.
Another goal close to my heart is working alongside Danessa Myricks, a trailblazer in the beauty industry whom I deeply admire. Even if I were just doing touch-ups, it would be an honor to learn from and collaborate with her. I’m also passionate about having my work seen and appreciated on larger platforms. Achieving a few viral moments would be amazing—not for the sake of fame, but to showcase the dedication and creativity I bring to every client.
Ultimately, my future plans are about pushing boundaries, growing as an artist, and leaving an indelible mark in the world of beauty. I believe that with hard work, faith, and the continued support of my amazing clients, these dreams can become a reality.
