Hidden Gems: Meet Celeste Trevino-lopez of JB Goodwin Realtors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Trevino-lopez

Hi Celeste, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So I started my real estate journey just this year, it took me a while to realize this was a career I wanted to do. When I was younger me and my mom would watch those HGTV shows like House Hunters, Love it or List it,etc..) So that has always been mingling in my mind but I never took it seriously. So in high school I decided that I wanted to get into Forensic Science. I took every class I could that was related to it and was dead set on that dream, I even got accepted into Penn State University for Forensics. That same year though my mom contracted Ovarian Cancer. I watched my mom who was so full of life slowly fade. She loved to dance, dress up, move the house furniture around, go out, and she wanted to be an Interior Designer and travel to Paris. She passed that year I went to university and when I was in my classes of Forensics all I could think about was seeing my mom being taken into the ambulance in a bag. I knew that I couldn’t continue in this field so I left and came back home. I found a job as a Two’s Teacher two months in and as much as I enjoyed it I knew this was a job I couldn’t see myself in the years to come. I had missed my mom a lot one night and played HGTV and started to watch house hunters. That day I got the idea to be a Realtor. So I got into classes and passed my exam and here I am this year starting my career!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some struggles for me to get into Real Estate was most definitely taking and passing the National and State exam. I took that exam about almost 6 times before I was able to get my licence, but my fiance got me through it, he was there when I wanted to give up, when I had doubts, regrets and felt like I failed. He was there for everything and he got me through everything even if he realizes it or doesn’t.

As you know, we’re big fans of JB Goodwin Realtors. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
JB Goodwin is a wonderful brokerage! It’s full of so much helpful people who don’t see this as just money but see home buyers as a family. They treat new agents like me like family and don’t see me as sort of a competition, our goal here at JB is to be ethical and help you all find a place where can call home even if its your first home, second home, rental, vacation or even business. We love to support our community and give back, we have our program called JBGoodwin Giving Back Program. We have a program for veterans and first home buyers too!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Besides my fiance I would love to say my Tio Adan and my Tias Betsy and Autumn played a big role. My Tio Adan payed for my real estates courses, he didn’t judge me for coming back and he accepted my idea right away to become a Realtor even when I had barley mentioned about wanting it to be an actual career. As for my Tias Betsy and Autumn, they too did not treat me different or think of me different when I told them I left university, they did not once question my path and put their full trust in me and knew I could be happy in pursuing a career in Real Estate and continued to cheer for even when I would fail my exams. They didn’t know how much I was struggling unlike my fiance so even doing small simple things of supporting me has helped me a lot and I hope they know they are a big part of why I didn’t quit.
