Today we’d like to introduce you to Leticia Salazar
Leticia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been interested in landscape and wildlife photography. My husband purchased my camera to encourage my skill development. I posted the photos on Instagram under my other business, Leticia Salazar Photography.
The staff at Dogtopia, where my dogs attend daycare, knew about my ventures and followed me on Instagram. Last year, the staff asked me to take holiday photos for them with their pups. I had a BLAST! The pups energy, their smiles, and the families happiness were so enchanting. I couldn’t believe that someone wanted to pay me to do something that I enjoyed so much. It was at that moment, I knew this business was meant for me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

The road has not been all smooth, but I have been blessed, supported, loved, and welcomed.
The struggles the business has had are the normal growing pains of a small business owner with full-time job: scheduling, expense management, price setting, processes and procedures, software choices, advertising, etc.
But the bumps in the road that have come are growth and development. I never thought I would be speaking to a magazine about my art, my passion, but here I am.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in petography (Pet Photography). Catching the uncatchable moments on the camera, the smiles, the perky ears, the special movements, it is why I do this. Seeing a pet loved and treated well is heart-warming and encouraging. When the owners post the photos, it is reaffirming that I am making people smile.
What sets me apart from others, my creative vision, my client engagement, and my love for pets. I focus on doing what is right for each situation. Paws N Poses donates time and photography services to local charities such as Diamond Dachshund rescue of Texas and offers free photos for foster pups for various rescues. Finally, I am a dog mom and a former educator; I am patient and calm around situations that can be stressful for your pet.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Photos were how many of us communicated with one another. Our pets sheltered in place with us. They went through the strangeness of the pandemic and then endured when life and work locations changed again. My business had not started at that point; but life from that time period taught me that a relationship between pets and owners is so very special. It taught me that our pets are resilient as long as they have us to count on, just like we are able to count on their companionship.
