Meet Rosa Suarez of Westside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Suarez

Hi Rosa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the salon industry since 1986. I have been in salon management most of those years. I was an Area Manager in charge of Daily Operations for a franchise in San Antonio and surrounding areas for over 20 years. My son decided to follow in my footsteps and attended the Paul Mitchell school in San Antonio. He has been licensed for over 13 years now. He worked for the same franchise I did. When the franchise decided to downsize, we left and decided to go on our own. We opened Hair Legacy LLC in 2017 and worked out of another salon renting stations. We have always been blessed to have a great customer base. We started renting out a 3rd chair in that same salon and hired on 2 more professionals. During the pandemic we had to close for 6 weeks. We kept afloat by delivering custom color kits to our clients. In October 2020 a great opportunity came up to move 3 doors down from the salon we were renting so we took the leap. It all happened so fast. Doors were opening for us we didnt think possible. We were up and running in 10 days while we maintained the chairs 3 doors down from our new location. We became proud owners of Hair Legacy in October 2020 and have been at our own location for 4 years now and still continuing to grow. We love servicing clients. We love what we do, to us its not a job. It is our love and our livelihood. We cherish all the new connections we make with all our clients. We strive everyday to do better than yesterday. We keep our minds educated with all the new opportunities in this industry . We care about the clients hair not just today but as long as they are our client. I am also a licensed instructor so i pass on all my past and current experiences and practices not only to my son but to all who work in our salon, hence the name Hair Legacy. My hope is to leave a legacy to my son and my fellow coworkers. . We share our salon with other professionals that also have 15 plus years experience in the industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My personal struggle, i have always been a single mom. ( and i do mean single, never any child support) I have only counted on my own resources. We still struggle with keeping afloat especially in todays economy but we do not give up. Most of our clientele comes to us by word of mouth. We do some social media but that world is saturated. We believe in “old school” advertising.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in corrective color and all hair color, brazilian blowouts and women and men haircuts.
what sets us apart i believe is ……………We care about your hair , we are not just in it to see you today but to build a relationship with your hair for many years.

What were you like growing up?
I was actually pretty quiet didnt really see myself working with the public. I didnt know what my interest were, like many teenagers. One day my mom said, “get off the couch and do something” , so here i am today. My father owned his own company and i did enjoy watching him lead his employees to a better life, so that inspired me.
