Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Longoria, Lorena Robledo, and Josh Saenz
Hi Andrea, Lorena, and Josh, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Briefly said, we come from a family of musicians. We started at about the age of 10 as a mariachi group of 13 kids. We brought in our drummer (Jacob Elizondo) and started playing at festivals including SA fiesta on the old mariachi stage. We were a full band with 5 girls up front singing and dancing. As we all graduated high school, we pursued our careers. Now we have the chance to come back full throttle as adults!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our biggest struggle had to be our age. There were performance locations where minors weren’t really allowed, as well as the constant need for us to be protected at big events. But I gotta say we enjoyed some pretty big fiestas.
And marketing! We didn’t have social media! It was all word of mouth and the hard work of our manager, Gabby Martinez and his wife Frances (Andie’s parents/ Lorena & Josh’s aunt and uncle) who gave everything to see us grow!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a Spanish group performing a style like no other. A little bit of Tejano mixed with Latino music and an urban flare.
We specialize in putting on a great show and entertaining.
If you want to get deeper into detail, within our group we have entrepreneurs, a veteran, one working at the state capitol, and other hard workers in the band as well as performing with Mira Sol.
We have always been known for having us girls singing harmony and dancing, and a sound that isn’t quite like others in the area.
We are proud of our dedication and the support of our families.
What sets us apart? Well the more we get out there, the more we can compare and find out 😉
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Andie:for me it’s retreats. Ex: Hair Love Retreat, ACTS, and home
Lorena: I just learn piano and write songs
Josh: For me it’s taking time to myself. Finding that alone time with a houseful of people and getting rid of stress that way. Also hiking and reading and working out.
