Life & Work with Joshua Troy Garcia of North East

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Troy Garcia

Hi JOSHUA TROY, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Fitness has always been a passion of mine. I decided to fully pursue this passion when I graduated from college and became a personal trainer. I quickly climbed up the ladder of the private gym I was working at and became the manager and owner. The 1300 SQFT studio I leased out had limited equipment, but the environment and community that was built gave me such fulfillment that I wanted to take the next step and upgrade the gym experience.

When Instagram really took off, I partnered with multiple companies who flew me out to the biggest Fitness Expos in the world. I was able to collaborate with the most elite figures in the industry and at the same time was exposed to the world’s best gyms.

I realized that I had multiple gym memberships because each gym I went to offered limited equipment, space, and experiences. I began to look at old warehouses to see what I can rebrand into my dream gym, but everything I looked at seemed to restrict my vision. Location, space, availability all played into this decision making process.

I came to the conclusion that if I wanted to go all in on my dream, I would have to build it myself. I knew it was going to be a challenge but it was worth it. I have completed by dream gym and the final product has exceeded my wildest dreams. I have built an athletic compound on 4 acres including my 20,000 SQFT facility, a full recovery spa, 22,000 SQFT outdoor gym with 2 full sized sand courts, and a renovated full indoor basketball court.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This has been the most challenging endeavor in my life. From my family and friends questioning if this was the right move, to getting denied loans from banks, attempting to build during a pandemic, dealing with construction delays, change orders, and supply chain issues.

There have been many stressful days and sleepless nights knowing that I don’t have a “Plan B” I had to make this work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am wildly curios about fitness. I have trained and competed in many disciplines and styles to see what I excelled in.

I competed in local and regional CrossFit competitions..
I qualified for NPC Nationals without a trainer or coach.
I had an amateur boxing match.
Trained in BJJ, Muay Thai, and everything in between.
I started everything as a beginner and gained a new level of respect for each style of training.

This is what my facility offers: Elite training in many fitness styles.
Whether you are training for a competition or just want to get in shape. We have you covered.
