Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Garcia
Hi Dominique, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Like most little boys, my enthusiasm for cars stems back to when I was a kid, playing with toy cars. At the age of 16 I was hired as a porter at BMW of Corpus Christi, my home town. That is where my interest and passion for European cars began .
After graduating high school, I received my technical training at Universal Technical Institute and later went on to work for several BMW and Mercedes dealerships through out South Texas over the last decade. I received dealership trainings all over the US and can boast the accolade of “Master Technician”. After working for several dealerships and struggling to feel valued and find a work, life balance, I then began working for a few independent shops. After about 2 years of working with independent shops, I still didn’t feel that my efforts were being valued or that I was being paid fairly. I was an asset making the dealership and independent shops thousands of dollars, while only being paid an hourly wage and barley making ends meat after working tirelessly all week. I have three young children and my time with my family is more valuable to me than anything else. So with a little courage, and a lot of hard work, Enthusiast Motorsport was born. I am committed to caring for my customers cars with top-notch service, honesty, and customer satisfaction always at the forefront. I want to build a community of enthusiasts not just a business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finances and location were a huge challenge starting off, many banks wouldn’t give me loans or credit because they needed proof of income, which I didn’t have yet. Finding the right location has also been challenging because most places wanted a 5-10 year lease or the price was too far out of budget. We started in a smaller shop last year and worked our way to being able to move, and have recently signed a lease at Northwest Business Park, here on Culebra Rd.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in high end European Cars, I would say what sets us apart is we are building a brand and community of enthusiast, not just an auto shop. We know our customers on a personal level and we want to equip them with knowledge about their car so we are all on the same page. Every last Sunday of the month we host a morning meet up at our shop where our community gets together.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
