Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Silva
Hi Jackie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story starts when my daughter and I started a mobile boutique for modern western wear and accessories. We were very enthusiastic about joining local popup events and started setting up at as many as we could. After a few short months, we noticed that vendors did not have a lot of support from the event coordinators and this is where Bonita Market Co. came about. I started studying the logistics of popups and how to market them. With my husband and daughters help, we started coordinating our own vendor markets. To our surprise, the markets slowly but surely became very successful and the community embraced them especially the small business vendors and venues.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As in any journey, it has not been a smooth road. Everything is a learning experience. From the venues, to the vendors, customers and even family and friends. But, each struggle has been a stepping stone that we have learned to accept for the better of our business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the founder and owner and a third generation entrepreneur. My passion is supporting small businesses and the communities where we live, eat and shop.
At Bonita Market Co, we produce and coordinate local market days and events in San Antonio and the surrounding cities including classic car/hot rod cruise in’s with our other business, Texas Auto Culture.
We are humbled and honored to say that we have 1-4 vendors that sell out at our events and I believe that is what sets us apart as we work very hard at promoting our vendors and events. To hear the vendors say that they had an “Amazing event!” or “Sold Out!!!” and they keep signing up for our markets definitely shows us that we’re doing it right.
We are most proud of being known in the community for supporting small businesses and building genuine connections. Most of the vendors have become like family that we cherish dearly. We are also proud of recently being featured on New 4 San Antonio Living Show. We give God all the honor and praise for this because without Him none of this would be possible.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Support one another and be kind!
